Forums - Gaming - My far cry 4 DLC stand off.

So I got the far cry 4 deluxe edition at launch.  Which included some bonus content.  Loved the game.  Platinumed it too.

So I was excited for Valley of the yetis.  But then it turns out to be $15. That annoyed me because I would have been better off buying the regular far cry edition and the season pass which included all thr extras the deluxe version gave.

I got no discount for the season pass even though I already got some of its content with the deluxe edition.  So I decided to wait for Valley of the yetis to go on sale.

In the mean time the season pass has been on sale many times.  Once it was $15. So I could have got the regular edition and waited for the season pass to go on sale.  But it's still no use because the only piece of content on it I'd want was the VOTY expansion.

So that's no good.  Turned out the VOTY expansion was actually on sale once for $7.99 which was the perfect price.  But I missed the sale.  Didn't realise it.

So I'm still waiting and fucking Ubisoft hasn't put it on sale since. Well they did in the EU but I bought my copy on the US store.  so I'm still patiently waiting for the price drop and won't give in.

Have you ever had a long stand off with a publisher over the price of their dlc or game?

Every Dynasty Warriors etc. from Koei Tecmo. I swear those guys never drop the prices for their games. Also, Nintendo, from what I've seen.

yeah it's kinda hard sometimes to get a specific DLC you want.

Often times you don't even get the season pass on sale. Just a standard edition of the full game and a premium edition with all DLCs included.

I too had to buy the Valley of the Yetis seperately and I recall it being on sale only once (XBL). Thankfully I didn't miss is.

So your problem stems from you overpaying for a `deluxe` version of the game originally. Well just make sure not to make that mistake again. Standard edition > any other edition

Well the deluxe was worth it.  But even if I didn't get it,  I still wouldn't pay $15 for the yetis expansion. I would have got the season pass on sale though.

For fucks sake. The season pass is on sale for $10 on ps3 and VOTY for $6.

Discount it on ps4 God dammit!!!

I decided I wanted Sniper Elite 3. It's pretty much always on sale. Normal price is $40 AUD and I've seen it as low as $15. Now that I've decided I want it...not on sale. The season pass is $12 at the moment though so I'm thinking of maybe getting that now and then the main game later.

I will not yield though. Main game on sale or not at all.

At least Nintendo doesn't give broken, DLC-infected games. The only games like that are the Amiibo small projects that are made with little time for some money.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

I bought Fallout: New Vegas on Day One and loved it. I spent a lot of time exploring everything. When the first DLC was announced, it was just perfect timing and I was ready to jump right back in with the game fresh in my imagination ...

... except that it was an Xbox timed exclusive. Not even a MICROSOFT time exclusive, as even we PC players had to wait.

I was so pissed that I swore not to buy it at full price. I didn't, either, as I ended up buying ALL the major New Vegas DLC later on during a Steam Christmas sale for like $3 each. I even got a pack that added a bunch of new weapons, the kind of thing I never buy, for like $.75. It had been long enough that I was able to enjoy starting over from the beginning, as well.

Now, in complete contrast, we have Fallout 4.

I had no intention of buying the Season Pass. I like to pick and choose my DLC, so I've always avoided that route. In fact, I think it's mostly people's own fault when they buy a Season Pass and then complain about it later. Purchasing something sight unseen is a sucker's bet.

However, Bethesda came out later and said that they would soon be raising the price for the Season Pass because they ended up creating more than planned. Though prepared for disappointment, I bought the Season Pass at the cheaper price. Turned out to be a great decision and worth every penny, as Bethesda produced some of the best DLC I've ever played.

Hey now, Koei Tecmo doesn't seem too bad either. At least the Warriors games don't seem too buggy and although they have a lot of DLC, most of it is either cosmectic or otherwise uninteresting so it's easy to avoid. But yeah, I do have a lot of respect for Nintendo for not trying to sell a game's worth of DLC (and for releasing quality).

Gee, sounds like the problem is you.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
