Then you can go argue that out with the CORPORATIONS THAT TRACK 80+% of the retail chains in the UK that sell video game consoles. Like I said, anecdotal data versus hard cold numbers. People are on this board every day talking about what is and isn't happening in the US to because they "Live there" but when NPD says something, most intelligent people tend to listen because they have MUCH more exposure to whats really going on.

So while your personal exp might say the console isn't supply constrained at all, the trackers say that it is, and We are all watching games like Wiiplay fluctuate over 40 spots up and down the charts week in and week out.

Im going to go with what common sense tells me in that case, Supply issues.

Are you really trying to convince me that the Wii (the console), that I see every day on sale in all the major retailers online AND in the high street (with all their big "WII IN STOCK" signs outside), is supply contrained because an analyst told you that? That is the worst argument I have ever heard....

[ ] You know what the difference between tracker an analyst is

[x]You just don't read what others are writting.

To put this argument to a rest, yes the Wii has supply issues in Europe, but there are nowhere near that big like in the US. Meaning, the shops arn't sold out 2 hours after the shipment arrives, but the shipment doesn't hold til the next arrives. ;)

Ok, agreed on that. The supplt is not what i call plentiful, however the difference a plentiful supply would make to overall sales would not be very significant (+10-15%?).

Don't forget that the Wii was quite plentiful in EU last year around this time as well. It is another matter during the holiday season....

PSN ID: T_Gears

End of 2009 ltd sales:

Wii = 67-68m

X360 = 38-39m

PS3 = 34-35m

Prediction: The PS3 will surpass the 360 on weekly sales after it drops to $299 on all regular weeks (no big releases).

I'm going to go with the Wii.

I really don't care what game is coming out for the PS3.

I know I still have not seen a wii on the shelves here in the US. But I have never really searched for one.

It will be close, and that is exciting for all.

̶3̶R̶D̶   2ND! Place has never been so sweet.

I'm gonna say Wii for no reason.

the wii doesn't seem ard to find in London, it's pretty much in all the shops. but as for PS3 beating Wii, isn't PES out this week too? thats been hyped on TV quite bit. TV adverts with Michael Owen and Ian Wright.

Shop attendant in Game (where i bought my copy of GT5P) said its been a good week for Sony - people coming in to buy GT5P and pre-ordering GTA4 while they're at it - seems they're offering pre-orders without a deposit which is roping in a lot of people.

And God of War for the PSP is out - which has also been selling well.

this is, of course, anacdotal evidence. but the availability of the Wii is confusing. we keep being told its in short supply, yet it seems to be in all the major high street shops...? is it just a hangover from the months of 'ooh, it's probably out of stock, it always is'.

will be a close one this week!

one more thing, Game have Haze due for release on May 22nd and Killzone 2 in Feb 09...

@scruff

that was SONY's AIM

MAKE people BUY PS3's for GT 5 P & at the same time show them GTA Iv is also coming to PS3

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Going to have to go with PS3. It sold 90k this week, I expect if nothing happened next week it would drop to 80k after the Easter weekend. I'm gunna say 15k - 20k were bundles, and the game itself will sell 20k - 30k consoles.

So, it should sell around 115k - 130k, while the Wii sells 113k.

@ darth damn right, i have no doubt about that, Sony are flexing their sales and marketing ability at the moment. there's a very good few months for games and deals on the PS3 - we're going to see a lot of momentum. Off Topic: anyone else noticed a funadamental change in atmosphere of this forum? the past year has seen 360 fans and PS3 fans battling it out over which was the best High-Def console, Wii fans would brag about how great Wii sales were and jump into every argument with a 'But Wii is selling better than both' Not that 360 and PS3 fans really cared that much. they might as well hve been shouting aout how great Speak and Spells had been selling since High Def console fans really couldn't give a crap. Now things have really changed, the CrossBox360 has more or less been forgotten and PS3 fans are turning their attention to the Wii competition, something they would never have dreamed about a year ago. and the comments from the rest of the forum have turned from 'the PS3 is dead, it will never beat te 360' to 'the Wii will edge out the PS3 this week'. not trying to start a flame war - i for one know the Wii is the king of sales, there is no doubting that - but the attitute towards the PS3 has gone turned totally 180 over the past year.
