It's obvious Nintendo has realized they can make mad bank by dropping mobile versions of their most popular IPs , so there's no need to rush the next console out the door just yet.

I can't believe people actually bought into the March 2017 release date.  It's more likely for Valve to reveal Half Life 3 than it is for Nintendo to meet that arbitrary launch window.  Hold it back until you have plenty of games ready for it, not just Zelda, and release it in early fall before the holiday shopping frenzy begins so that you have ample time to both build up hype for the console and meet demand during the holidays.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

"And then there’s the matter of a March release historically. No home video game console since the Japanese release of the PS2 has debuted outside of the fall holiday window, including Nintendo’s own consoles. "

That is if it is a console and not a handheld. If it is a handheld which many rumors suggest, Marchsh release date would make perfect sense. The Nintendo 3ds launched in March in NA, DS launched in EU in March and etc.

Plus Zelda being released that month as well would be a huge bonus. Nintendo are always quiet about things until they are revealed so I would wait until at least the end of September before saying "Its delayed" cause its rumored to be revealed in September.

The quoted part isnt even true. The Original NES wasnt released outside the fall holiday window. The N64 didnt release during the fall window. The Gamecube didnt even release during the fall window (only in the US).  So his biggest argument was flat out wrong, I mean it could turn out to be true. But his arguments doesnt really support his case at all.

The article says "SINCE the PS2 in Japan", which is true for all home consoles (handhelds on the other hand have been released in Q1 however like the 3DS).

Confirmed Valve´s Half Life 3, as a NX launch title, report from NightDragon83!

Honestly, I don't even care any more.

Nintendo have lost me. I was a fan for over 20 years, but modern Nintendo simply no longer meets my needs as a gamer. For years I defended them and made excuses for them, hoping things would get better, but I'm tired; tired of delays, tired of droughts, tired of being disappointed.

It's time we went our separate ways.

Or you could, you know, only buy their consoles and handhelds when the games you want are there and buy the games you want afterwards as they land?  This isn't an either-or situation.  Just buy whatever games you want and whatever platforms have those games *when* those games land and don't give a single drop of piss what brand is on the box.

That's how I roll.  I bought a Wii U in 2015 not because of the Nintendo label, but because the games I wanted were there in numbers that were suitable.  As much as I discuss and criticize these companies as brands, when it comes to spending money, I frankly couldn't care less what brand is on the box.  Unless it's Gearbox.  Because f*** Gearbox.

This is a spaculative opinion piece at best.

Nevertheless Nintendo needs to unveil the damn thing already to squash all this uncertainty and insecurity that's going on.

Pretty much what i've been saying since they announced it.

They overestimate their abilities.

They will probably cancel it so that they can focus completely on Smartphone Games!

This is not absurd. If the apps start to turn really good profits, then we can see a move like that.

In the long run it would be a huge mistake. Any idiot can make a app.

Very few companies can inovate like Nintendo.

I feel the same way. The last 2 or 3 years of a Nintendo console is the worst. The games are never there. The wait for Zelda is always hard, and we get the B team games that happen after Mario Kart, Smash, and their 3D Mario game. The droughts kill. By the time something finally launches all hype for it has disappeared but it will most likely sell because its all that's there.

I bought a Xbox One S and am quite happy with it. I forgot what it was like to see 3rd party games. NX needs to fix.... a lot of issues. If they don't address them and address them well then I don't think I'll be there.

Well to be fair Wii U is Nintendo worst selling console ever, I am pretty sure that Sony or MS were in place of Nintendo with Wii U they would abandoning it much earlier.

I am pretty sure Nintendo will address most of Wii U mistakes they made, on first place strong launch lineup and no software drought, they several time addressed that like one of biggest Wii U problem.

Nintendo made plan to make mobile games year and half ago.

This whole article is pure speculation and nothing more, completely ignoring things like Nintendo just last month again confirmed march like release date and fact that Nintendo several times said they dont want to unveil NX too soon because they think competition could stole they idea. Of Course that March 2017. like release date is still almost certain, and I am pretty sure they will have very strong launch lineup.

Yes because it totally make sense to spend few years and lotsa resources preparing complete new platform and new game for that platform, and then cancelled 6 months before launch without actual reason. Especially when they last month confirmed that Match like release date and several time said that dedicated platform gaming is still their focus.
