Forums - Microsoft - High-spec PC builds of existing Xbox One games expected to come to Scorpio

Teams have the "art assets and engine to use power"

The fact that many developers are already targeting higher specs with PC builds of games will work to the advantage of the Xbox Scorpio, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has suggested.

The Scorpio is Microsoft's 6TF behemoth planned for holiday 2017, and is expected to easily eclipse the capabilities of the PS4 Pro which arrives on November 10.

This has me thinking about Quantum Break the PC version...

If they re just going to use PC versions on the Scorpio, the experiance is going to be simular to that of a equally spec windows 10 pc ?

The big question for me is how much will Scorpio cost? If it comes in a $399, then it'll be awesome. But, if its $599 or more, no matter how powerful it is, it won't sell well. A $499 price point is a little harder to figure.

If it doesn't sell well, developers will not put in the resources necessary to take full advantage of its power.

It'll probably be expensive but they've have a bunch of sales all year round without dropping the official price.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

I am hyped for the Scorpio, I own a Ps4 and a 780GTX gaming setup but I would really like to buy the scorpio over a new graphics card because I just like Console gaming more, but it has to deliver, so far most Phil and his team are doing sounds amazing.

I love its been announced so far, I like they are already working on titles to launch with a strong first party and I am excited to see the PC-Console cross play and features, so far almost everything sounds good.

I hope it launches at 499,- or 599,- max, but I think thats deffenitely possible after seeing at what price the pro launched, I meen its a year later, technology becomes cheaper, and even tough its much more powerfull, 100 extra to spend on the sales price is a lot. I guess it depends on which CPU they use.

I don't think he's saying that they're going to use PC versions.  I think he's saying that the fact that developers are already making higher spec versions of games for PC will reduce the burden on them of having to make a regular xbone version and a Scorpio version.  In other words, he's saying that they're already making a basic and premium version of every game, and Scorpio tech is such that it will not require as much work as making yet another version of the game.

I guess $599 bundled with a couple of games could work.  Or, maybe an Elite controller and one game.

Still, I worry about the price.  We've seen many times now that consoles don't sell well at $499 or more.

Isn't this to be expected? The Xorpio was developed under the same concept as the PS4neopro.

B-bu-but I thought PC gaming was dead!?

It is. What's now called "PC gaming" is from my perspective disguised console gaming and all what's left are remnants of the past.

Hunting Season is done...

If the PS4 Pro can be sold as a 4.2 TF machine for $400 by the time the Xone launches with 6tf wouldn't the price be pretty much the same anyway.

As for PC ports it largely depends on the fact if every game that runs on the Scorpio also needs to be able to run on the One. We are not there yet but stay with me. If every game which uses the extra power of the xone Scorpio, also needs to run on xone. We get a situation whete the xone is bottleneck for some pc ports. If not every game has to ve able to run on xone MS can fade gens and release constant updates which support diminishes over the years and while staying in the same gen. It they do the latter MS could build a specific library for Xone and PC with many games that can't run on a console and indeed traditional gens are over.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Isn't it normal for any developer to work first with high quality assets and then toning it down to fit the console version? Genuine question.
