Yep, XBR-75Z9D!

The thing is amazing. I am still waiting to get it all set up on the proper TV stand (sitting on the Kitchen table right now), once I get it set up on the new stand with the reciver I am going to do a review on here. Should be a great test of the PS4's HRD update next week, and I will update it again once the Pro comes out.

Honestly, I think the praise the Pro recieved from attendees of the event last week was more due to this TV than anything else. If you go to any A/V store and see this thing sitting next to the rest of the TV's it is like looking at an HDTV next to an SDTV. Even the Sony X940D and the LG OLED65G6P look underwhelming next to it, and they were the cream of the crop for the last 3 or 4 years.

With all of the talk about true next gen, this IMO is the true next gen of TV. If you can't afford $6K for the 65" or $9K for the 75", right now, I would seriously wait for this tech to expand to other manufactures, and for prices to fall. Hopefully, Sony will bring out a 55" next year so they break into the ~$4K market. I really feel like the tech behind this TV is what is going to upgrade, more so than 4K, which honestly doesn't do a whole lot.

I set one of those up at my store the other day. They're intense. What do you do that allowed you to purchase a $9000 TV though?

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

It all depends on 4K projectors becoming affordable and able to project 10 bit wide color gamut at 4:4:4 60fps. It might be longer than 2 years, lcd/dlp might not be able to do it :/ Laser projectors can, like this one http://www.sonypremiumhome.com/projectors/VPL-VW5000ES.php $60k :(

I think after this year I'm gonna hang up my projector cape. I've fought the good fight but it's a losing battle.

My first projector and screen combo was an Optoma on an 88" screen. Now I'm using a different Optoma on a 100" screen.

On average my screen and projector combos susully cost me around $2500. Projector, fixed frame screen, paint gun to DIY my ALR screen, mounts, cables, sound bar...etc.

Now I can get a 75" 4K HDR TV for around the price that is ready to use out of the box. And that of course can work in all lighting conditions and has more smart and convenience features than any projector on the market can give me.

I am not even going for broke on my 55-65" 4k HDR tv projector replacement. Cause I know it's just a stop gap for now. I'll spend around $1000-$1500 for the set depending on what size I land on then in 3-4yrs, buy another 4k HDR Tv that will probably be around 80"+ being that these TVs are getting bigger every year. Who knows it may even be an Oled.

A friend of mine already caved in as well and swapped to a 4K tv. I love projection so I'll be sticking it out for a while longer. It's just a different feeling to watch a movie on a projector than on a tv, although I admit, it's a lot less hassle to simply hang a tv in that spot. I hope laser projectors come down in price as that would remove the annoying degrading lamp problem. (I'm on the fifth lamp since 2007) I paid $4500 for the projector, still looks great. It supports 4:4:4 60fps full RGB, yet all at 8 bit, no HDR ofcourse or the new color spaces.

But true, tvs keep getting bigger and flatter. An 80" Oled tv will look wonderful too. Will have to wait to see what becomes affordable first. For now I'm still satisfied with 1080p. Going from 100" to 55", not worth it for me. I struggle in racing games on my 52" living room tv after playing on the projector, too small!

Are you kidding??? I feel you on the projector front, but come on.... with a budget like rhat if ur willing to spend $4500 just for the projector; by thr time yoi factor in all tjose other costs that we know goes inot these things you will be at aroumd $6k/$7k at least. Thats not even cointing the at least $250 you are probably spending on each bulb replacement for a PJ like yours.

You can land an 85" 4k HDR with every bell and whistle you can imagine for around $6k today. And believe me when I say the IQ is a night and day difference and I'm not even talking about the simplicity. I walked into a store and spent about an hour with an 85" 4k HDR tv and that was all it took.

You make good points, can you convince my wife too :)
I'm still going to wait a year until the dust settles on HDR, but you're absolutely right, about an extra $1000 for replacement lamps so far, $1200 for the screen (although that doesn't need to be replaced), $300 for custom made 20ft long hdmi and component cables (in 2007, all so much less now), custom extension brackets for hanging the thing. That all together would buy a very nice tv today.
Hopefully the Canadian dollar recovers a bit, that hurts buying expensive electronics. 86" LG is 10k here atm, Sony 850D 11.5k
Still, since I have all the extra stuff swapping out the projector should be easy.

Haha.... Well just don't think out loud before she hears you.

Damn you did sink a small fortune into all that tho i cant blame you cause i  kmow how much shit like that all cost back in 2007.

Waiting for The HDR stuff to settle is probably a good idea, being that right now LG are the only ones that make TVs that supports both HDR formats (HDR10 and Dolby vision).  Waiting a year could also mean that when you are ready to jump in prices of 80"+ screens would be much much reasonable cause these blasted manufacturers are gonna have to run out of price jacking acronyms to slap on top the packaging box sooner or later. When that hapens all they can do is compete on price.
