A friend of mine already caved in as well and swapped to a 4K tv. I love projection so I'll be sticking it out for a while longer. It's just a different feeling to watch a movie on a projector than on a tv, although I admit, it's a lot less hassle to simply hang a tv in that spot. I hope laser projectors come down in price as that would remove the annoying degrading lamp problem. (I'm on the fifth lamp since 2007) I paid $4500 for the projector, still looks great. It supports 4:4:4 60fps full RGB, yet all at 8 bit, no HDR ofcourse or the new color spaces.

But true, tvs keep getting bigger and flatter. An 80" Oled tv will look wonderful too. Will have to wait to see what becomes affordable first. For now I'm still satisfied with 1080p. Going from 100" to 55", not worth it for me. I struggle in racing games on my 52" living room tv after playing on the projector, too small!

Are you kidding??? I feel you on the projector front, but come on.... with a budget like rhat if ur willing to spend $4500 just for the projector; by thr time yoi factor in all tjose other costs that we know goes inot these things you will be at aroumd $6k/$7k at least. Thats not even cointing the at least $250 you are probably spending on each bulb replacement for a PJ like yours.

You can land an 85" 4k HDR with every bell and whistle you can imagine for around $6k today. And believe me when I say the IQ is a night and day difference and I'm not even talking about the simplicity. I walked into a store and spent about an hour with an 85" 4k HDR tv and that was all it took.
