I'm pretty sure that Sony already confirmed that games will get better performance with PS4 Pro as well, like how Rise of the Tomb Raider has a 1080p 60 FPS setting.

Actually, that has a 45+ fps setting, not 60.

Its cause while they upgraded the gpu, the cpu is still weak sauce and only got clocked a bit higher. So the result is, higher visuals but more stable framerates. Not double...

Actually, it has a 45 to 60 fps setting. How much it reaches 60fps is yet unknown.

Quit the downplaying.

They said 45+ fps... If it was more closer to 60 fps consistantly, they would have said 60 fps... I am not downplaying

All your comments on PS4 Pro threads are negative. Yes, you are downplaying. Borderline trolling at times.

So stating what the developers are saying is downplaying and borderline trolling? Okay there

And not all are negative. I have said in a few of my posts that I am planning to buy one over the Scorpio...

You need to underatnd how games run to begin with. In simple terms

It takes a certain amount of time for each frame to be rendered. Both the CPU and GPU needs to finish their tasks which results in a new frame.

Even if you make a GPU 10 times more powerful but it still take the CPU the same amount of time to finish its tasks as it did before, then the 10xGPU will still give you the same maximum framerate.

In other words, having a better GPU isn't enough to have higher/double framerates if the CPU remains the same. Yes there is a slight up clock to the CPU, but unless a game was already internally running @ 45-55fps but locked to 30fps on the PS4, the PS4pro wouldn't suddenly make that game start running at 60fps.

Because sony isn't mandating it and most devs don't care for it... sadly.

The PS4 Pro should have had a better CPU. It will be outdated next year when Scorpio launches with better specs, which was a huge selling point for PS4 over XB1. Sony have started to make bad choices again with their hardware.

Agreed. I think they should've waited and used better hardware. 4K adoption is still very low and the PS4 was selling just fine, they should have waited a bit longer to where they could improve CPU performance, bump GPU performance even further, and have UHD disc support for a better 4K experience.

PS4 Pro was revealed to support 4K and HDR. That's awesome and its quite an upgrade over PS4 but why is there not an option to play games at 60fps? With PS4 Pro's power 1080p60fps is possible on all current gen games and as most people still don't have 4K TV's it would be more of a selling point to have games at 1080p60fps with HDR and better graphical settings.

I don't have a 4K television and I would have considered it if it supported better graphics and framerate rather than a higher resolution.

It would also be better if all Sony published games so far on PS4 had graphical upgrades on Pro, as so far not all seem to have that.

PS4 Pro can't inherently have an option to magically play games in 60fps. That's simply in the developers hands. The devs can create a horribly optimized game that runs at 1fps, that even the best PC out there can't run at 60fps, if they wanted to.
What Pro does is offer developers the opportunity to take advantage of the Pro specs, for a separate settings. A "Pro setting".
With this developers can have their games run at 60fps, if possible, and if they chose to focus on that. They can also use that setting for other things. Such as higher resolution, better effects, etc.

The only way a 60 fps mode would be possible, is if Sony forced every developer to optimize their games to run at 60fps for the PS4 Pro, but that would be a very unresonable thing to do.

Some games will run at a higher framerate. Others will simply run at a more stable/locked framerate. It depends on how demanding the game is and how well the developers manage/chose to optimize it.

It wouldn't be unreasonable to make 60fps required on every Pro game. Devs can just have it as an optional setting in their games with less graphical effects. It would make Pro more viable for many gamers.

There will be lot of games and some even run at 90fps for PSVR. I personally think PSVR is the reason for PS4Pro. 400$ is a good price for it. We have to wait for numbers but I think both PS4 will do well.

I mentioned in another thread but CPU is PS4's bottleneck.

Having a better GPU allows bigger resolution and improved graphics but things like physics and AI are usually dependent of CPU.Sony doubled the GPU power with Pro but only improved the CPU by 30%.

This 30% improvement is not enough to allow twice the physics/AI calculations per second.(which is required to have twice the framerate)

Of course maybe if devs put some effort they could use GPGPU or some similar technique to reach 1080/60fps but most devs will just make quick patches because they don't want to lose time(and thus money) with this kind of costumization on consoles.
