Forums - Microsoft - Buying an XBOX One S Thanks to Sony Event

So basically I sold my PS4 a month ago in anticipation of Neo.

See, this here is your problem. You acted based on rumors and have only yourself to blame. That said, I'm sure you'll be happy even with your Xbox, so there isn't really a big loss if any at all here.

Guys, you're fine to disagree with his decision, but let's not take things to the extreme when objecting to said decision.

Surely, it crossed your mind that the thread was made for trolling purposes, right?

Soundwave, I don't believe you would have ever given it a chance to begin with.

I bought a PS4 day one and have like three unfinished games sitting here for PS4. Looks like I have to buy an Xbox or buy a 2500 dollar 4ktv and not be able to watch 4k Blurays. Sorry Sony but that's a no, if I'm paying for a shiny new 4ktv I want to watch 4k disc content on it.

What you getting?

I just bought the LG Oled 55" for $2,499 or whatever. Stupid taxes raised it like another $200.

But yea, I'm in your boat. Been researchign and reading all up on what to get all week. Not to omuch to research, due to there being only 2 players besides the One S. But I left the One S in my amazon cart till today to see this conference. Now it's a no brainer. One S gets my money.

Sad about that too. I think there are a couple more exlusives I want on PS4, over Xbox. Horizon and Spiderman look fun. But I'm not about to spend $400 for two games. Or shoudl say $520 for two games, cause you have to buy the two games.

I stand by what I said given your posting history. I'm not saying you're a liar in any capacity or calling your choice into question, but what I've witnessed of you tells me a very different story, enough for me not to have expected you to get one.

Regardless of all that, the forum placement of this thread, the person involved, the topic at hand... It all smells fishy.

So basically I sold my PS4 a month ago in anticipation of Neo. I'm getting a 4ktv this fall, but now that the Pro doesn't even play 4k Blurays I'm basically screwed by Sony. I'm not paying another extra 200-400 bucks for 4k BR player AND a PS4 Neo. I might as well get an XBox One S now because it's one of the cheaper 4k BR players and just game on that since I doubt the 4k games on the Pro will run that great. And no Netflix is not good enough, the whole point of getting a 4ktv is for the best image, a stream is not going to match a 4k Blu Ray. So basically I'm being forced into an Xbox. Now I'm wondering if I should just ditch the PS ecosystem entirely and just wait for Scorpio next year which is going to be more powerful. Sorry Sony but you just lost a customer.

Good for you, if that's what you want.

Two questions:

How big is your Blu-ray collection? Which 4K-UHDs do you intend to buy the next 12 months?

No one is ever allowed to be disappointed with Sony? Seems to be open game for MS and Nintendo when they make questionable decisions. The only console that can run 4k Blurays is an Xbox One. To me this is really poor decision making on Sonys part. Am I supposed to wait until 2019 for PS5 for 4k blurays? It's a fair complaint. Slim not having it is one thing, the Pro not having it is really lame.

So, games be damned, right?

Lack of 4K Blu ray movie support is a serious head scratcher of a move. Sony has basically done a total reversal from PS3. PS3 was an expensive and risky move because Sony wanted a console that could play [the gold standard in resolution at the time] 1080p HD Blu ray movies. MS released a console with only a DVD drive because they had no interest in the time at involving themselves in the format war and they didn't care about competing on non-gaming elements.

Now, Sony decides that Blu ray movie playback is not important.

I would think/hope it's just a firmware issue and that a future firmware update will implement it.

I wonder who would have won if the 360 had a HD-DVD drive installed instead of the attachment you had to buy.

Blu Ray totally won due to the PS3 having the blu ray drive installed.
