Forums - Sony - PS4 Slim, $299, September 15th - PS4 Pro, $399, November 10th

4k Bluray would have been ideal since this is a "premium" 4k device but I think sony is coming to terms with the death of physical media where films are concerned. Streaming is the future and I guess a 4k drive doesn't come cheaply or without sacrifice. edit: Well if Xbox One S could afford it at $299, Sony are just being stingy....

While I'm a little bummed it doesn't support 4K Blu Rays, it's just one of those things that's only going to matter to a really small percentage of users that wouldn't have made sense to include it when probably less than 10 percent of peoe would even use it.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

PS4 Pro Gamestop Pre-orders are open:

So will the 4k games have the same graphic updates they showed the 1080p games to have? Or do you have to pick between the two?

Xbox scorpio will have a little more than 6flops wich will probably make the xbox one scropio about 500 dollars.

No. In one year from now those 6TFLOP GPUs from AMD won't cost more than the 4.2TFLOP PS4 Pro GPU costs this November. And on top of that Microsoft could opt to lose a little money on each unit sold in order to gain some marketshare.

Plus it would be suicide to price the Scorpion $500 when the competition has been out for a whole year at $400.

I just want to know if pro will allow better frame rates for games. can anyone confirm?

or is it just better resolution?

PS4 Slim is 30% smaller, weight reduced by 16%, energy consumption cut by 28%

Whats over? PS4 has obviously "won" the generation long before the slim or Pro, but there is a niche for Microsoft to tackle with the Scorpio. I hope they do it because 60fps should be an option for console gamers.

Because a year or so after Scorpio hits, the PS5 is probably going to be announced, which will likely destroy the specs of the scorpio.

I doubt the PS5 is coming for another 4 years.

Developers are free to patch already released games and remove the 30fps cap, or make the PS4 Pro version of future games run in 60fps, and it would be extremely easy, but from the post Sony-event talk with 3 first party developers sadly it sounds like everyone is going for higher resolution, or for supersampling if the game runs on a 1080p TV, or as that new Blizzard game, which improved the grass and stones and some graphical effects.

I love that price for the ps4 pro.

110% Gonna get it! (With FFXV if there is a bundle)

I have to say considering you are a pc gamer buying a ps4 as a secondary console you played a blinder.

If you didn't hold off and wait it out this year,  you'd have bought a regular ps4 for $350 when you will now get the neo for just $50 extra.  Well played sir.

OT: I'm delighted with the announcement.  A ps4 slim sold at $299 which is no doubt sold at a decent profit for Sony and a neo which only costs $399.

I'll trade in my ps4 and get this.

Ps. (pun intended)  does anyone know how much you get when you trade in the ps4?
