Looks likely, if so it's huge for both apple and nintendo.

Japan doesn't usually ever let foreign companies buy Japanese companies. Japan is very protective of their companies and Nintendo would never agree to be bought out by Apple. Did you miss that recent thread that states Nintendo has about 9.5 billion in the bank with pretty much zero debt? |
Pretty sure Foxconn (a Chinese company) was allowed to bid/buy Sharp Electronics (Japanese company).
I don't think a buy out would be neccessary, though Apple IS one of the few companies in the world that actually has more than enough cash on hand to buy Nintendo out straight up.
More likely they would just enter into a partnership.

Wasn't Sharp pretty much in the tank though? I think they even disclosed more debt which Foxconn had to reconsider their bid. I forgot about that recent purchase.
I don't think so, but if Nintendo cant get more of a foothold in the console market and their next handheld doesn't do well, it might be a good idea. I hope it doesn't come to that, but it might be an option for Nintendo.

Nintendo used to have that much. They now have around $4.6 billion in their bank. It's when you include assets they are worth more.

Secondly, just because you have $4.6 billion it doesn't mean you can be cavalier with it. There are still shareholders to please and if Apple is offering a way to bring in more money then why not?
I agree with the Japanese buy out thing though. It is unlikely unless, but when things get desperate you never know.
Funny watching Apple conference.
"We have made our best iphone yet" Oh really. And what other companies aren't always makign their new phone their best also. Such a stupid statement.
THen I love the videos showing it being made. Looks all fancy and like their is such special treatment and effort put into each phone. Yea I'll believe that "Foxconn"
I just don't want Nintendo to turn into a company that will be more about mobile games that console games.

Apple are masters at talking crap. My brother used to work for them and I would be shocked at the shit I heard they do because Apple bring their God. Even now, my brother considers everything Apple does a gift from heaven.
