Forums - Website Topics - Why are here so many PS3 haters?

about 1 year ago i saw a damn load of ps3 haters. they used to make shit ass comparasins on youtube just to bash the ps3. and the 360 boys used to do this the most: say shit about ps3 without even researching facts about it, and saying every single exclusive is garbage.

bashers are just followers who dont research.

I agree.  It's nothing now compared to what it was a year ago.  Even on this site, there would be at least 5 doom and gloom threads for the PS3 every day, and there would only be a couple of PS3 fans / fanboys that would argue.  It's becoming a bit more balanced, even though the majority is still Nintendo fans here.

Some Sony fans are very excited about the resurgence, and some Nintendo fans are angry the PS3 wasn't put to death last year.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Nintendo fans arent angry, I as one can say we are happy about the success of both DS and Wii.
The problem is that Sony fans can't stand not having their consoles on first place like PS2 did, they are the angry ones making threads to bash Wii as being a gimmick/fad and gloryfying PS3 over 360 and never taking into consideration Wii is doubling its sales every week by saying "nah its not in direct competition, its a toy and you cant compare".

There are always people like that. Nintendo fans are just as guilty of it. I know most of my friends down here have been Pro-Nintendo all their lives. And when PS came along and knocked Nintendo off it's pedistal for two generations, most of my friends took whatever low blow they could at PS. Since Nintendo wasn't in first place as usual they'd say things like "The PS2 is only selling because of it's DVD player," or "The only thing Sony is good at is making TVs."

I seriously think my friends are holding a grudge against Sony for taking first place for two generations. They have a deep hate for Sony and pretty much defaulted to supporting HD-DVD because Sony was a big supporter for Blu-ray. I guess I can understand that grudge though. Anyway, there are always people like that. It isn't just Sony fans/fanboys.

Just to point something out, a lot of the people I talked to who bought a PS2 said they did because it was a cheap DVD player.

And a lot of people I've talked to who bought a PS2 did it for the games. Point? Things aren't in black and white or consistant in every area. Some areas are concentrated, some are not. All I know is the PS2 was a major success and had a lot of good games that sold well. Was the fact it was a DVD player cause this success? No. Some people might have bought it for the DVD player, but most probably purchased it for the games. Otherwise, games wouldn't have sold as well as they did.

Took my next post right out of my mouth about the "black and white" issue.  In fanboy mentality, everything is black and white.  Sony fanboys can't see why they aren't the absolute leader anymore in the business.  Nintendo fanboys, while seeing their console rake in all the sales, sometimes do not understand why they aren't getting 100% of the 3rd party support from a business perspective.  Besides sales, there is alot more like 3rd party relationships with the console manufacturer and target demographic.  For example, COD4 and DMC4 is pulling in tons of money being on PS360, why would they want to change to the Wii exclusively.    That's usually why some Sony (or MS) fans will sometimes ignore the Wii.

Before this generation I was actually much more pro Nintendo, neutral on Sony, and didn't like Microsoft.  This gen, I'm fine with all the companies, except for the fact that I don't like what MS does in some of their business practices and the way they make operating systems and hardware.  But they are providing alot of jRPGs this generation.

I think what Nintendo is doing great.  They changed alot of the interactive entertainment.  However, I don't support the new direction myself personally, so I like PS360 more this gen.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

No time to read all of the posts but here's my theory. If people bash the Wii, Wii owners always have the "well just look at the sales charts arguement", so they don't let it get to them. If you bash an Xbox owner, they have the "well my software library is bigger than yours arguement".

When people bash PS3, their only defence is subjective arguement about why their system is better than the others, but no really solid defence that can be corroborated by data. So it bugs them that people can't see things from their point of view.

It may also be that there is a little more venom in the PS3 bashing due to the Nintendo and Xbox fans being on the receiving end for the last two generations....

Why are their PS3 lovers I don't get it?

Edit: I want to say that my comment was not serious. So please  stop with sending PM's with stupid fanboy as thread title.

Thank you.

I think you are spot on about everything except the bolded part.  There is no quantitative reason why the PS3 is better than the other two consoles, but there are quantitative reasons why the other two consoles are better gaming solutions than the PS3.

As for the bolded part, I think you have got it the wrong way around.  I think a large number of PS3 owners bought their console in the belief that Sony would dominate as they have the past two generations.  They either were unaware that this wasn't happening, or convinced it would happen shortly.  Such gamers become immensly frustrated when confronted with the Wii's continued dominance and only a minor PS3 week-to-week sales advantage over the 360.

Quite aside from the PS3's higher price point, many PS3 owners feel a far greater need to justify their purchase to others, due to the fact that said purchase was made with the anticipation of continued Sony gaming dominance that simply hasn't eventuated.  Owners of the 360 and the Wii on the other hand, generally paid less for their console, and bought it knowing full well that dominance was unlikely due to the console's respective predecessors being trounced by the PS2.

We should all feel at least some level of sympathy for Sony fanboys due to these points, as it must be incredibly frustrating for them.
