I think this is exactly who they're targeting with these commercials. You are also right that they should be strengthening their weaker markets but that doesn't mean they should stay stagnant in their stronger ones either.

This isn't going to sell consoles. These commercials aren't funny, and don't advertise the product in anyway. Did once in any of those commercials, did they even tell me what a 360 was? No.

Some amusing commercials are well and truly needed for the Japanese market. Both PS3 and XBox 360 are struggling in the land of the rising sun.
they were kind of funny, but don't show the product at all. The only reference was in the ADD ad.
Guys, you're missing the mark in these commercials. They're not targeting you, they're targeting older people while trying to still make the commercial hip. They don't have to advertise the system because the market has already been established and you would have a hard time finding a middle-aged American with kids who doesn't know the name "Xbox". You would also have a hard time finding an American under 30 who doesn't know what an Xbox is.
In any case, a few of those commercials are full of fail. They're trying waaaaaaaayyy too hard. The skateboarding one is kind of amusing (and is probably the most successful one at poking fun of older people). The handshake/greeting one was also okay. Most of the others just seemed like a desperate attempt to be funny while basically straight ripping the "Hi, I'm a Mac" format of commercials.

The only people who are going to understand these commercials are those who already own 360's...
The commercial is supposedly targeted at parents, but how many parents are actually going to go online and type in www.parentalstreetcred.com to find out what the hell this commercial is about
