What...Metroid Prime Hunters? Metroid Prime Pinball? Two of the least liked Zelda games?

I think MK7 is way better than MKDS. Zelda ALBW way better than PH or ST. I dont know about Pokemon.

Games like Kid Icarus: Uprising, Super Mario 3D Land, Luigis Mansion 2 and Paper Mario: Sticker Star are pretty ambisious games for a Nintendo handheld.

I just think you are a bit blinded by nostalgia on this one.

C'mon, Mario Kart 7 is... lame. Like... really lame. Poor course selection (with exceptions like Rainbow Road and two or three more), poor roster, poor soundtrack... pretty much everything of this game is forgettable. As for Zelda, I actually think that PH was a great game. Also, you'll agree with me that PH felt, as I'm trying to prove, more ambitious. Like, they were actually trying to make something new. ALBW, as good as it is (and it's awesome) it's just an upgraded ALttP with some changes here and there. Spirit Tracks was not very great do to the train mechanic, but, as PH, at least they tried more than with ALBW.

As for Metroid, Hunters was great for a system like NDS. That's a lot more than FF can say.

Paper Mario Sticker... what? Are you serious? That game is a joke compared to its predecessors. Super Mario 3D Land is very flat, not only compared to other 3D entries, but also with the 2D entries or its Wii U counterpart. As for the others... I think Prime Hunters, Mario Kart DS, Hotel Dusk, Pokémon B2/W2/HG/SS, the original NSMB, Super Mario 64 DS and before you say that is a remake, it is... but for its time and for the console it was made its launch was some megaton shit) or Rhythm Paradise, just to name a few, easily surpass anything from Nintendo you throw at me.

Well first of all Paper Mario SS is the only handheld Paper Mario game. Cant really compare it to console versions.

Its pretty hard to argue opinions on games though. You think Nintendo made better games on the DS and I think the 3DS. Thats just our opinions.

I can just list some games I like:

Super Mario 3D Land

The Legend Of Zelda: ALBW/OOT3D/MM3D

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D

Rhythm Heaven Megamix

Kid Icarus Uprising

Ultimate NES Remix

Paper Mario: Sticker Star

Mario Kart 7

New Super Mario Bros. 2

Just some really quality games imo. I agree that third party games were better on the DS though.

Ok, you're right. Discussing about subjective opinions won't do any more good. I respect your point of view.

But I can't resist to say one last thing. Because I'm too much of a fanboy of the Rhythm Heaven series.  As much as I like Megamix (is like a dream come true), I think the DS entry was better. Ok, I'll stop xD

I love the DS one. Its just that Megamix takes the best from all the previous three.

That's true. Also, I think it has the best final remix of the series so far ^^

Why not both, man? xDDD

Ambition can sometimes mean you have to sacrifice quality, and quality can sometimes mean you have to sacrifice ambition. I'd rather the latter only ever being the case. I don't buy games because of how flashy and shiny they look, how big and expansive they are, or how inventive and new they are, I buy them to play them, so they need to actually play well above all.

That's true. But if Nintendo has managed to keep up both things in a not that distant past... I think they can do it consistently. I mean, they have never really failed combining both things. The closest thing was Metroid Other M, and that was not that much of a faliure. I enjoyed the game a lot.

If you do it correctly, you don't need to sacrifice anything.

Ambition is not the issue. I want Nintendo to be more radical; really look at all their IP's and try to shake them up alittle bit. We look at Breath of the Wild and Pokemon X and Y as "fresh", but really, the advancements that Pokemon X /Y brought and the Breath of the Wild will bring should of happened a long time ago. To me, they feel late.

On top of thought of Breath of the Wild and Pokemon X/Y caught a lot of interest because they're doing/did something different. I want Nintendo to do that with all their IP's

It's about budgeting, but overall, I would like to see more ambitious titles

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

Thank you! I made a thread about this a few days ago.

They have to go ALL out. That means:

- Pokemon MMORPG
- Full fledged and fully featured Mario 64 sequel. No more 3D World stuff, no more gimmicks. As great as Mario Galaxy was (best Mario IMO), I'd prefer no Mario Galaxy 3.
- The best Zelda game ever but with OOT/MM/TP graphics, not this cartoon stuff.
- Let Retro Studios develop a kick ass first person shooter or WRPG. Seriously, quit forcing them to make Donkey Kong games! No one wants those (Returns was a hit because it was the first one in decades)
- MORE CREATIVE IPS LIKE SPLATOON. While it's great to see a new Mario or Zelda title, they should create 2-3 new Splatoon caliber IPs for the NX.

So you're saying ALBW, 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, and Pokemon XY/ORAS/SM are that much inferior to their DS counterparts? Then what about Kirby, FE, KI, AC, and Luigi's Mansion?

Edit: While I'll somewhat admit that there wasn't as much ambition this gen for Wii U, I'm not one to dismiss well executed games. And who says Sm4sh isn't that ambitious? Especially with 8-player Smash, new modes, and characters we thought and never expected to make it (possibly creating the greatest crossover roster in the history of video games). Splatoon, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and BoTW are the more ambitious games for Wii U, but there's no way anyone should put DKTF, Pikmin 3, 3D World, Woolly World, Captain Toad, MK8, TMS: #FE under low esteem.

I never said Wii U hadn't ambitous games, or great games at all. I'm the first one to say that Tropical Freeze and Bayonetta 2 are the best 2d platformer and action game of my life respectively. TMS #FE, Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 are great.

As for Smash... ehh. I just feel like they filled it with a lot of useless content. 8 player smash is somewhat niche because of the difficulty of gathering that much people. Also, even in bigger stages it's a complete mess. Smash Tour is the shittier thing Sakurai could had come up with. Really, I can't say anything good about that mode. As for the roster... no complaints. I have major (but like MAJOR) complaints about the soundtrack selection though. But I wont get into that, it would be too much off topic.

The Smash part we can agree to disagree I guess :P

I didn't say you said there's no ambitious Wii U games. I somewhat agreed with your opinion that there wasn't a lot of ambitious games, just mostly excellently executed games.

i do wonder your thoughts on the FE games, AC:NL, the Kirby games, Luigi's Mansion 2, and KIU?
