I don't think Playstation is a bigger brand than Nintendo. Yes, PS4 murded the Wii U in sales, but Mario, not Nathan Drake, was what Japan chose to represent their country in front of the entire world at the Olympics. There's a reason for that.

Nintendo releasing a brand new console would be bigger news than Sony releasing an upgraded PS4.

Honestly I think PlayStation would get bigger mass media coverage than Nintendo... Nintendo as a brand is a lot weaker. It really depends on what the NX is if it could take the top spot on all mainstream news sites over the PlayStation.

Nintendo's IP's and games are a lot stronger as a brand than PlayStation's, but as a gaming platform PlayStation is the bigger brand.

The Neo renewal isn't just a Neo reveal. It will finally give the journalists and fan boys the numbers they need to write articles to pit Scorpio and Neo against one another.

Nintendo will be drowned out under those articles, especially if the price of the NX isn't right or it lacks launch day games. Afterglow, Neo won't only show case hardware, it will also showcase software.

I agree, Mario & Pokemon are huge, but WiiU, Gamecube & N64 sales show as big as they are, they don't carry enough weight to sell consoles to the masses.

There is one scenario I can think of where Nintendo would come up on top and that's if they announced an exclusive partnership with Apple where the latest phones will come with a new Poke game.

I don't think it would make too much of a difference, tbh. It really depends on how Nintendo presents the NX, but both systems seem like they're going to be catering to mostly different audiences, and each audience will pay attention to that respective system, regardless.

Lol they announced a november Direct for Animal Crossing. The NX reveal won't be this year, by December when all the faithfull still think they'll do the reveal to coincide with PSX and VGAs they'll do a "PLEASE UNDUHSTANDO" and delay the console to Holiday 2017 with full reveal at E3 2017.

If it's just the date and time for the NX reveal, it'll do nothing. The actual event though could do something. That would be more interesting than the Neo to see.
