Miyamoto said we wouldn't even hear about the next Mario game until next year, let alone how it makes absolutely no sense to release such a game on 3DS instead of NX at this point when the latter is and has been top priority. Basically, what you want to happen has no chance either.

I am surprised there's never been a Mario 3D Land 2, but I doubt it'll happen anymore.

Nooooooo, why did you remind me of this! Why do Nintendo insist on making crap Mario Party's with stupid movement gimmicks.

Though with the new "galaxy" 3ds coming out... maybe they'll announce Super Mario Galaxy for 3ds, that'd be quite cool!

  • Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Spirit of Justice
  • Mario & Sonic at the Olympics
  • Sonic Boom: Ice & Fire
  • Mario Party
  • Potentially Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse and 7th Dragon III Code VFD in the European Direct, though given they were confirmed in a press release earlier today, they may not feature.
  • Europe may get a Metroid Prime: Federation Force trailer, given it launches tomorrow, or perhaps just a reminder

Games further ahead and localisations:

  • Ever Oasis, perhaps with a 2017 confirmation 
  • Release date for Dragon Quest VIII
  • Monster Hunter Stories
  • Detective Pikachu
  • The new Professor Layton game/spin-off

Other:

  • Nindie sizzle reel, presumably for the September sale
  • Galaxy New 3DS XL for Europe
  • New 3DS Virtual Console update: more SNES games
  • Animal Crossing: New Leaf amiibo update
Wildcard:
  • Super Mario Galaxy 3/3D
  • Mother 3 for 3DS & Wii U Virtual Console
  • Link's Awakening 3D
  • Animal Crossing mobile announcement
  • Bravely Third
I don't expect we'll see all of this (or even any of the wild-card options) but it gives you an idea of how much Nintendo can pack into a 3DS Direct. It'd be nice to see confirmation of a few more 2017 titles to see the system out, there's still a big 3DS audience and Nintendo usually do a decent job of giving their portable systems some long-tail support.

Why do so many people think that there's a chance higher than 0% for Super Mario Galaxy 3D SIX MONTHS BEFORE NX???

What I expect: nothing. This Direct is just to advertise the remaining 3DS stuff, giving some release dates, so that they can focus on NX after that Direct.
