Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 Slim is 40% smaller

The slim still uses an internal power supply.

I know, it was a joke ... and clearly a poor one

Does that include the power brick?

Actually the image compares the slim to the PS4 in its cardboard box. Loopholes!

Damn you Sony!

Wow that's really impressive considering that the original PS4 is already very small.

I wouldn't say that OG PS is very small, Wii is what I call very small, but yes PS4 lota smaller than OG XB1 even it has stronger hardware and integral power, PS4 is very well designed console (exept nose and heat). PS4 Slim is day one for me.

It really doesn't make sense to compare the size of Wii with PS4/XB1 (then it can be argued that Vita is even smaller than Wii, yet stronger). Besides, Wii's power supply is external.

You mentioned noise and heat. That was indeed a problem initially but was fixed with the CUH-1200 model in 2015 while still keeping the same size.

I think why many are impressed with the 40% smaller PS4S is because PS4 OG was already extremely well put togehter and it didn't seem like much could be done to slim it.

But when will it be portable?

Actually, one could almost see that happening in a few years, sort of. A handheld sized PS4 (with buttons, analog sticks etc) into which you can plug a smartphone or tablet. Probably not pocket sized, but definitely portable.

Common dont blow smoke up his arse :p

A couple of years? Nvidia probably make the strongest most power hungry tablet chips of anyone out there, and their Tegra X2 is rumored to be 625 Gflops.

How are they going to get a 300% increase, in a few years time? You wont see a tablet equal to a PS4 for along time.

Maybe once we re down to like 5nm.... which isnt anytime soon.

Well I said that PS4 is small compared to XB1, but I don't think PS4 is very small, Wii is what I think is very small (Vita is handheld not home console).

And I'm saying: Yeah. Wii's size is also impressive but it's silly to compare it with PS4/XB1. It has 61 gigaflops for crying out loud (PS4 has 1840 gigaflops).

"I don't think Wii is very small, PS2 Slim is what I think is very small." You see how silly that comparison is?
