I would be very surprised if there is actually a Vita 2 and not just another Vita model. Maybe this time they let us use SD cards instead of the Vita memory cards.
if it is indeed a new handheld, hopefully sony actually gives it their all this time

So
PS4 Slim
PS4 Neo
PS4 VR
PSP3
Yeah ... don't see where the development resources are coming from here. They couldn't even properly support the Vita when it was just the PS3/PS4.
A new Sony portable won't be better than what's in the NX either, the Tegra X2 for a mobile chip is basically the bleeding edge mobile chip, Sony is not going to get something better than that, so it won't even have that going for it like the PSP and Vita did.
A revised Vita model for Japan makes more sense.

Vita is dead, why would they waste time making new hardware for it when they can't even be bothered to make any software for it. Honestly that makes less sense to me than a completely new handheld, but I don't expect either.

That's why I said "for Japan". It still sells OK in Japan. In North America retails are done with the Vita and probably wouldn't carry the model even if Sony asked them to.

It wasn't debunked, but it was just confirmed as not really being evidence. The Wifi Chip was filed by Sony Interactive Entertainment I believe so it's something to do with gaming, but there's no real evidence to assume it's for a new handheld. The module number "J20H091" is NOT the number used in the Vita as this article and several people have claimed. Vita Number - J20H056 Ps4 Number - J20H071 This Number - J20H091 |
SO there is no evidence of this having anything to do with the PSVita.
Also are we sure that the 2 wifi units aren't the slim+Neo.
Anyway as an initial Vita supporter I will say there is little point in sony producing another dedicated handheld and with the arrival of the NX, sonys niche of the high end gaming device is out the window. Unless this is the playstation phone, they'd be better off not bothering. Also I see no chance of sony taking their development resources away from Playstation 4 & VR.
If they make it compatible with all Vita games and give it the capability of attaching to your TV then is 'might' work ... IF THIS IS TRUE of course.
The PS5 Exists.

Would still flop.
