Jigg(saw) last friday.

Super Mario Village. Reminds me of Dark Cloud. You assemble the town with jiggsaw-shaped pieces. Once the diorama is done Mario gets small by being hit by a sort of toy hammer and explores it in 3d, Super Mario 3D World-style, with the added ability of a rotating camera. The camera rotates at 45 degrees steps. Black jiggsw pieces generates "bad" places such as haunted castles and weird pits. The pits are interesting, as propose a vertical gameplay a-la Downwell. Once the game is brought around in Walk Mode it becomes some kind of Animal Crossing with lots of street-pass like features. Once you reconnect the game to the home module new jiggsaw pieces are generated and you can enlarge the town. You can even name the town. Jiggsaw pieces have an expiration date. After that they become black-corrupted pieces. You may want to make this happen intentionally. Game is linked with meteo forecast, meteo events plays a role in the village, adding rain, flood, wind. Lots of loot in the game. It seems a blast.

Sounds cool :)

Conflcting marketing messages.

One could lead to... trouble, had to scrap.

Also no game catalog now and new infrastructure (XXX Plaza XXX) is still in early alpha stage.

1st, we're already in the holiday season marketing window. The majority of new product demand is for Christmas gifts, not something coming out next Spring.
2nd, Nintendo is doing what most successful products do, unveiling close to the launch date, not a huge amount of time in advance. The problem with these long runways that some products do is that they run out of steam before launch. Unveiling in January means that Nintendo is unveiling in the correct window, AND they'll be able to maintain the unveil buzz until launch, since there's no Christmas in the way.
3rd, there is not that much time left in October. The lower the amount of time, the lower the probability.

I agree with you buy some degree, but also people need to know before holiday season what exactly is NX, what games will have and what date will be launched, in order to save some holiday season money or to start saving for it. NX is completely new console platform, and will have life span of around 5 years so definitely need few months more than mobile phone that are basically same platform and they have yearly editions. Of Course they will not have big and huge marketing in holiday season for NX, but point is just that people be aware that NX is coming, and later they can just have huge and big marketing from January until launch.

January revel date means they cant reveile it before 10. January because it still post holiday effect, and from around 10. January until some time in March (for instance 21. March) you have only around 2 months, and around 2 months is too short time between reavile and launch of completle new platform and for marketing for that new platform.

We are just one 1/3 of time in October, so you can't say there is no that much time left in October.

Why is 2 months too short for marketing? It is very rare for companies to kick off their marketing campaigns more than a few weeks before launch. Explain what Nintendo needs more than 2 months to do, and why they need it.

As for time left in October, add 1-2 weeks time onto the fact that they're going to need to announce their unveil presentation with enough notice for the press.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Should I get in on this action? I'm thinking October 25th or November 2nd... Put me down for 25/10/2016

Oh, sorry for spelling that correctly, here you go:
10/25/2016 ;)

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

They can do good marketing for only 2 monts, but Its not only about marketing, but fact that 2 months is too short for some people to plan buying of console and save money for it, only 2 monts can definatly caught of guard lotsa people, especially those who recently buyed some other console. Like I wrote "people need to know before holiday season what exactly is NX, what games will have and what date will be launched, in order to save some holiday season money or to start saving for it and planing to buy one.

They can easily announce NX reveal just around one week before revile.

Except the point is they're not going for a full front loaded campaign with the NX they're going for the long haul this what companies did over a decade ago where the console launched during a quiet time to build up over the year for the holiday season. This way when the period when people spend money arrives they would have already established the console.

Very cool.  I think that's the "hook" of the system, take the HH on the go to expand the home experience.  Like Poko Go.
