| Jumpin said: 1st, we're already in the holiday season marketing window. The majority of new product demand is for Christmas gifts, not something coming out next Spring. 2nd, Nintendo is doing what most successful products do, unveiling close to the launch date, not a huge amount of time in advance. The problem with these long runways that some products do is that they run out of steam before launch. Unveiling in January means that Nintendo is unveiling in the correct window, AND they'll be able to maintain the unveil buzz until launch, since there's no Christmas in the way. 3rd, there is not that much time left in October. The lower the amount of time, the lower the probability. |
I agree with you buy some degree, but also people need to know before holiday season what exactly is NX, what games will have and what date will be launched, in order to save some holiday season money or to start saving for it. NX is completely new console platform, and will have life span of around 5 years so definitely need few months more than mobile phone that are basically same platform and they have yearly editions. Of Course they will not have big and huge marketing in holiday season for NX, but point is just that people be aware that NX is coming, and later they can just have huge and big marketing from January until launch.
January revel date means they cant reveile it before 10. January because it still post holiday effect, and from around 10. January until some time in March (for instance 21. March) you have only around 2 months, and around 2 months is too short time between reavile and launch of completle new platform and for marketing for that new platform.
We are just one 1/3 of time in October, so you can't say there is no that much time left in October.
