No Princess Bride?

I can not take this list seriously.

So you thought this was an all time best ranking and the only thing you miss is The Princess Bride? XD

Is a list about movies of the 21 century, hard to include a 1987 film.

The Princess Brides trancends time!

I don't see Interstellar on this list, so this list is invalid to me. At least Inception made it.

The Lord of the Rings should be #1.

They forgot to add Pixels. Probably an oversight.

It's pretty obvious how narrow-minded these "critics" are.

I could be biased and base my opinion on the fact that Guardians of the Galaxy isn't there, but as great a movie as that was, I can definitely see why it would miss a list of this kind.

Therefore, I'm basing that opinion on the fact that no Lord of the Rings movie was mentioned. The Lord of the Rings trilogy was one of the most acclaimed, highest-grossing and most popular trilogies and franchises of all-time and all three movies were amazing to at least 99% of the people who watched them. They were true classics and I don't think a lot of people would deny that.

To not have even a single one of the three on the list is a clear showing of one thing a lot of people know already - that is, in the mind of critics, blockbuster movies are all worthless, with no exceptions.

And I hate that.

There's a lot of people out there behind making these movies that actually care a lot about making great pictures as much as there are indie ones. Having multi-million dollar budgets and special effects doesn't automatically make a movie bad. In fact, not having that and only focusing on making a small-budget movie with a sad story doesn't automatically make a movie good either.

I'm not going to judge the list based on what's there, because I haven't watched most of those 100 and I believe most of them are indeed great movies. But it's clear that there is a very extreme bias against any blockbuster movies.

What are you talking about? this list is plenty of blockbusters! All Pixar movies are blockbusters, Mad Max, The Dark Knight, Inception, Inglorious Bastards,  Zodiac, AI, etc etc are all blockbusters too and some of them pretty high on the ranking.

Maybe they though LotR just didn't provided anything new enough to cinema, those movies are some of the best on its genre, however they didn't add anything special to it. Guardians of The Galaxy is the same, is better than most of its genre but it didn't add much to it, even if I would have included it on the top 100 but is not so hard to understand why not, in 16 years around the whole planet (because there is life outside the US) there has been tons of great films.

I'm watching it right now!

Just finished The Truman Show, a personal favorite of mine.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Hmmm...That's a pretty good list.

Mine would be a good bit different, and not 100 movies long, but I'm okay with this list.

Pretty funny to watch people who don't really know movies bitch about the list. Sort of like watching people who don't really follow gaming bitch about a "best games" list not including CoD or Madden.

Well from my point of view it's more like making a "top 100 games of the 21st century" list where 90% of it is just indie games.

I get the point of the critics and I believe most of those movies are amazing. But not having Lord of the Rings shows clear bias and that's not very deniable. That trilogy wasn't just very popular, it was also widely acclaimed by everyone and stood the test of time very well.

Just because you didn't know about the 90% of those movies that doesn't make them indie. Not everything outside hollywood is indie or hipster, expand your world.

My one "bitchy" opinion will be how come Spotlight is there and not The Big Short? They're pretty much the same type of movie, with The Big Short being much more entertaining, relatable, aggresive, and with a better production overall.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.
