I would assume that they are anyway Rock... I mean the console companies will count them as shipped and therefore be count as sold when they are then passed to the consumer!

@squall_Leohart & Rock
some companies...e.g NPd don't track the Free sold consoles..

No doubt it was their choice, but it happened because Sony is like a chain and SCE/playstation is a ring of that chain and not the whole chain. It's all about priorities. PS3 did a tremendous job as a trojan horse for BD but its inclusion into the system raised the price of it in the way and measure we know well. (Both MS and Sony came into this industry because of their vision of consoles as media centers imho)
This was a huge factor on poor sales and loss of market share and Sony can't change it rapidly because their competitors have grown and wii is attractive to a part of consumers that never thought to buy a console.
To put themselves on track they need a good and aggressive strategy, but in the same time they can't forget their primary goal: profitability. Q3 was quite good and it was unexpected, Q4 may be positive too but they'll have to face a big loss for the ending fiscal year and it's hard to believe that they will respond to price cuts of MS immediately, they'll follow a strategy that is becoming more flexible thanks to costs reduction but their competitors will likely have a cheaper entry price and this is gonna change soon.
Sony was lucky and smart enough to win the format war fast, it was a manna for them because now they can demostrate with no efforts that PS3's price is justified and it's a great thing in terms of perception even in territories where HD formats are barely considered now, like Europe. With some good bundles, they can stay at €399 here until august/september.
The big question mark is "what MS will do for NA in spring?"
As for Japan it's interesting to note how the slim version of PSP gave new life to the system, maybe history will repeat.
lol.....seems Ps3 is doing really well!! :)
sales will rise even more after 2 years, when it gets cheaper, and it will beat Xbox360 for sure, may take time but it will....

The reason is a little monster called the PS2, people may be fickle but they don't completely forget, it seems. Well, this isn't the whole reason but it's definitely a big reason.

Why isn't the PS3 supposed to sell like this then Riot? And try and explain in a non-fanboy way... I mean if the PS3 is not meant to sell like this then i could easily say the Wii or 360 isn't supposed to sell like they do...
The PS3 should sell like this, if not more as it is a great machine with very good reliability and great games here and upcoming!

I don't know about 150k =/ I'm thinking 125k at most. Let's not get ahead of ourselves again...or we'll be called SDF and sony fanboys all around again.
PSN: Lone_Canis_Lupus
It all depends on how many of the bundle Sony made... thats what would limit the sales! The again GAME are doing a deal of 40GB PS3, GT5P and RSV2 for only £299 for this week only... I think that is a great deal and should drive uptake :D
