They used the picture on the pre order page on the website.
Also the PS included this image would still be way too small, the PS wouldn't make the height wrong nor the depth that wrong if you put it on the side.

Probably because small form factor PC's are still bigger than XB1s (usually) and MS don't have a history of slick and thin console designs.
I'm also 99% sure it was an exaggeration.

Oh, sure they are but mostly also louder but we are only discussing size.
But saying they don't have a history of slick and thin console designs is wrong, at least the s versions of their consoles are actually quite small.
