Because it starts off with the Xbox logo, has the Xbox logo on screen all the time and ends with an Xbox ad, yet they used PC footage. It's misleading!

Does it start with the "Xbox One logo"? Has the video the "Xbox One logo" on screen all the time? Is it on the "Xbox One YouTube channel"?

It definitely has a slim advert on the end.

Start of a slippy slope I'm afraid. Why would they ever use XB1 images/videos if they can get away with attaching whatever they show from PC as XB1.

To show Xbox One gameplay? I'm sure most gamers are informed enough to know Slim isn't for 4k gaming and some can even read that info panel. It says right there it's PC footage..

Some people in this thread already showed that this isn't misleading but let's ignore it and keep making ourselves happy!

@CGI no this thread is pointless and this "topic" shouldn't exist.

Gamers should know? That's your defence? Wow!

What the fuck are Sony playing at, they should have Fifa 15 PS4 footage, put a PS logo at the start, a PS logo in the bottom corner of entire video, quickly flash up a Vita and PS4 logo and then advertise the Vita at the end. That's totally not misleading.

The failure to see the potential for a conflict of interest, between truth and fiction, among those defending this with aguments that are close to, if not total absolutes is really surprising. To show XBOX One gameplay? What's shown isn't Xbox One gameplay. That's the issue at hand. And to say that most gamers are informed enough to know that the new slim isn't for 4k gaming is a total guess at best. How many of the millions of this games potential customers know this? What percentage? Even giving that idea more credance than it likely deserves, there are still a lot, in terms of raw numbers that do not know this fact, and this video does an admirable job of perpetuating that notion, despite what some here are saying. Anyways, that's it for me. Moving on.

Xbox has become more than just the X1 console.

Also, 4K = not X1.

Frankly, I would just assume all Xbox games demonstrated will be from a PC build unless stated otherwise.

Eventually we will just see PC and Scorpio footage.

Exactly. Of course it's on the Xbox channel, as it makes use of countless features of the Xbox PC app.
Be it achievements, cross play, streaming, party chat or whatever, you need the Xbox PC app.

At the very least, it's also still a console. An individual piece of hardware being sold by MS. And yes, this kind of crap is too common, has happened before, and will happen again. Everybody has done it. It's so common, that this very series has had a fairly strong association with this type of activity, dating back to the original. Killzone 2 has one of the more infamous "target render" E3 videos around. To me, the worst offender in history is the "Ultra" 64 pre-launch campaign of lies. The level of deception surrounding the lead-up to that system's launch was mental.  Still loved it in the end, and it slooowly started showing it's true colours as the launch neared, but the lies surrounding the exagerations of it's power were gross. Hope that makes sense. Been awake for 25 hours straight.

Very interested to hear how the Ultra 64 was overhyped as I wasn't following it at the time.  Did it have something to do with it supposedly powering the arcade version of Killer Instinct which turned out to be completely false?

I'll get back to you on this in a bit!

And another misleading marketing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQS7CieaMxE

The video is in 1080p, but it is not explicitly pointed out, that the footage is from the PS4 version and not from the Vita version.

Both versions are in the title, both retail boxes are shown as advert after the video footage with no explanation at all, from which version is the video footage. Not even in the description! Very misleading for a Vita owner like me.

And they do that all the time on the PlayStation channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4PuVPQRJEo

The video footage of Lego Dimensions could be from the PS3 version or the PS4 version! They don't reveal that, but I suspect that it is PS4 footage... very misleading for a PS3 owner like me.

Defence? :D Well you know what, let's just see how many "I bough Xbox One S and Gears of War 4 and this isn't 4k!!" post we will see across the internet when this game releases. And I don't really care what Sony are or aren't playing at.

No shit? SWORDF1SH asked why they would ever use Xbox One videos and I answered his question. X1 gamers want to see X1 footage, simple as that. Everyone who reads the description of that 4k vid also knows it's not Xbox One gameplay.
