The thing is, this package, while it allows you to play the level is not the same as the experience over the years. A lot of events will not spawn anymore, and you won't have the same experiences as you did between the gap. The package just ensures you are caught up story wise, have access to the old raids (which are less fun, when you are in the new DLC because it is no longer as much of a challenge).

So some events from the vanilla game are now gone? And is it true that end-game content is cut off from the original game now that Taken King is in the mix?

Story is set in stone, but the original game story is pretty dry. The Taken King is interesting, the two DLC content in between story are sort of interesting and meh.

However certain events happen between DLC1, DLC2, Taken King in your overfield that were some what made a huge bulk of what you are doing at times. So they typically either get put in one area only, or get removed completely.

Trust me when I say that you need to play the content when it is released, otherwise it is just dull.

Some hardcore destiny fans might take offense to what I said, or might get technical on me, but this is how the game really much is.

I invested decent time in Destiny (enough to get that stupid year 1 emblem for doing a lot of stuff), and felt after beating the Taken King the game is fun, but not good.

It has great potiential and I hope when they do decide to release Destiny 2, they make it better.

That's like saying I could have bought battlefield 4 for $5 the other day.  Fuck that I'd rather have played it non stop since 2013.

OT: good to hear this announced.  Perfect for any late comers.  I wonder if destiny 2 comes out fall 2017. Hopefully.

And thats great for you.If you fell like burning more than $200 in one game, more power for you!I just dont feel like it.Thats what I meant by my comment

That's fair enough but these expansions are targeted at people who play destiny a lot. Most destiny players who have played it to this day have pumped serious hours into it and have gotten their money's worth.

Why is "burning more than $200 in one game" ok when, say, a GOTY or "Ultimate Edition" of it comes out later, with the original game, plus all the DLC that has released.....but when Destiny does it, it's bad?

The Borderlands Handsome Collection says, right on the box, "completely remastered with all available bonus add-on content. Over $100 in value!". The people who bought the original, then "bought all the DLC one by one" (just keeping the comparison 1:1. So, we're not talking about season passes), spent $60 on Borderlands 2, then $10 a piece on the 4 story DLCs and $20 on the two class packs in BL2. Then spent $60 on the Pre-Sequel, then $45 in total DLC for that. And I didn't even count the $30 in customization pack DLC because that's purely cosmetic....but it is available in the collection, but let's assume most people don't care about skins and only care about story and new characters/classes.

That's $120 in games and $105 in DLC. For a total of $235. The Handsome Collection launched at $60.

Did the people who paid all that money to be able to access all these things Day 1 pay a "small fortune"? Did they "burn over $200" (since they could have gotten this all for $60)?

I'm not even trying to defend Destiny. I wanted to like the game, when all the hate originally came when it launched. But my lack of entertainment became too overwhelming with it, and I sold the game. And haven't rebought it or played any of the DLCs, so it's not like I'm trying defend the game or say the package is "worth it". I'm just trying to understand the logic, of how this package somehow "screws" Day 1 buyers. You said "I know they got to play it first, but still.....", but that's exactly how GOTY, Ultimate Edition, Complete Editions, Collections, etc. work. The whole package with everything released for a small price. So what's the issue with this Destiny Collection?

I will wait until it's 30 bucks or less, as a day 1 buyer.

I see the youtube embedding still hasn't been fixed.

Oh man, that sucks. I guess you're screwed either way. You buy the base game and then keep spending more and more to keep up with the Joneses, or you wait for all the DLC in one package and miss out on the rhythm and momentum of the game and community.

Sooo, does that now mean a decent amount of single player content?

I think I'll still wait for this to go under $20. Also, is this even worth playing solo?

Meh, still haven't touched vanilla since the day I hit max light level. Not going to change that now. Maybe when Destiny: For Real, Last Release edition comes out.
