@Neos
I think GT5P couldn't take top spot in Ireland simply because Ireland seems to combine multiplatform games into one single listing. Perhaps if the PS3 and 360 versions of Rainbow Six were split up than GT5P would have taken top spot, it's difficult to tell, but if you knew that already then nvm.

i know that, but still, it means it didnt top it combined, which you would expect from something like GT5P, right?

Some would expect that I suppose, personally I was never a huge proponent of the "GT5P will decimate all" idea so if GT5P can't beat a multiplatform game in one country then that's ok with me.

Big sales for GT5:P in UK, tops All formats units chart, and individual formats value chart too, despite having an RRP of only £24.99, and selling for less at many places. Must be a long way ahead of 2nd place sales, and this week also covered Easter Sunday and Monday, so big sales all around.

Good debut for PES on Wii, bad debut for Everbody's Golf on PS3, probably just out of the top 40, coming in 9th on PS3 chart.

Uncharted finally un-charted, 12th in PS3 chart, so quite a way out of Top 40.

@Neos, why mention GT5:P Ireland chart position but fail to mention UK chart position? UK Chart position is worth more than 10 times Ireland chart position, plus as mentioned above, Ireland chart is all format, not individual format.

Sony’s first PS3 Gran Turismo title is a taster of things to come - ‘Gran Turismo 5: Prologue’ debuts at No1 and is released as a budget title.

This happened before with the launch of ‘GT4: Prologue’ on PS2 in June 2004…10 months later the full product was launched (Gran Turismo 4, March 2005). ‘GT5: Prologue’ becomes the fastest-selling PS3 title within a week (19th overall), beating previous title-holder ‘Resistance: Fall of Man’ (back at the launch of PS3 in week 12, 2007). Ubisoft drop to No2 (-50%) after debuting at No1 last week with ‘Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2’ (360/PS3). Sega’s Wii/DS ‘Mario and Sonic’ (-19%) suffers a similar fate, dropping one place to No3. Konami climb 7 places to No4 (+109%) with ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2008’. The latest version to launch is Wii, claiming just over half of total sales, supplementing a DS version (Feb 08) and a PSP version (early Mar 08) and ‘PES08’ is now available on the same 7 formats as ‘FIFA 08’ which launched in late Sep 07. Activision drop one place to No5 with ‘Guitar Hero III’ (+8%) and Sega climb 4 places to No6 with last week’s other big new entry, ‘Sega Superstars Tennis’ on Wii/DS/360/PS3 (+25%). Also of note this week are new-entries ‘Viking: Battle for Asgard’ from Sega on 360/PS3 at No8 (67% on 360), EA’s ‘Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath’ (No16), Sega’s ‘House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return’ (No21) and Sony’s PSP ‘God of War: Chains of Olympus’ (No29).

Does anyone know what the 18 games are that beat GT5:P's opening week numbers?

The Wii had 14 titles in the UK top 40. That's not too shabby.

Not all 18, but we have 13 games that sold over 100k first week:

FASTEST PRODUCTS TO REACH - SILVER STATUS
GRAND THEFT AUTO: VICE CITY PS2   1 WEEK
METAL GEAR SOLID 2 PS2   1 WEEK
WWF SMACKDOWN 2 PSX   1 WEEK
CHAMPIONSHIP MANAGER 4 CDR   1 WEEK
FIFA 2004 PS2   1 WEEK
PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 4 PS2   1 WEEK
GRAND THEFT AUTO: SAN ANDREAS PS2   1 WEEK
HALO 2 XBOX   1 WEEK
GRAN TURISMO 4 PS2   1 WEEK
FIFA 06 PS2   1 WEEK
PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 5 PS2   1 WEEK
FIFA 07 PS2   1 WEEK
PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 6 PS2   1 WEEK

So GT5:P didn't quite make 100k first week, but was probably close. No other current gen game has sold 100k first week in UK, so it's a pretty big debut for GT5:P considering the installed base.
