Forums - Nintendo - Bethesda Doesn't Rule Out Nintendo NX Support, But "It's Too Early to Say"

" Finder.com.au took the chance at Quakecon to ask Pete Hines - Vice President of Bethesda Softworks - about the NX and his company's games. He was diplomatic in his answer.

We talk to Nintendo all the time – we're pretty well briefed in on what they are doing. It's definitely something we will look at; and our philosophy is that we will put our games out on any format that supports the games as we envisage and make them. If the NX fits that from a technical standpoint, and fits the game that a developer in our stable is making, I don't see why we would not put it out on NX. But it's too early to say, 'we'll definitely be putting games out or not.' Like with mobile, we want to have the right fit for the right formats. "

Something tells me that they won't give the NX any support.... OK, maybe Wheelspin 2 could happen but nothing more.

"It's Too Early to Say"

This is my response to all them NX prediction threads.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Sounds like a polite way of saying "no", this thing launches in 7 months, developers must know the specs by now.

Seems like Ubi Soft, Warner, and Activision are in .... but EA, Bethesda, Rockstar/Take 2 are a no for now.

That means no, or "we're waiting to see if it doesn't screw up".

Well all signs point towards NX being weaker than Xbox One, the truth is most PS4/X1 downgrades will do poorly on it and most devs are already demanding more power, not less. Bethesda is exactly the type of dev I don't expect to see on day one but Skyrim Remastered would be a good launch title. If the NX did go on to become a huge success they would still be very selective about they put on it, they're not compromising their high end titles.

So another no.

There is no reason for this 3rd party companies that have never been specially interested on Nintendo to magically start making games for NX, at least until NX shows that it has potential to have a decent userbase, and even then is not something that we should be expecting.

Out of all the big western publishers T2 and Zenimax are the ones least likely to support Nintendo. T2 more than Zenimax, Zenimax could always try to make a quick port of some of their games to see if they sell well on a handheld environement, but other than that, not expecting much.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Honestly, I took that to mean they need to see the final specs. The devs have dev kits, which are probably not final hardware. If the final hardware has an X2, it might be a possibility.

The other side, of course, is if the market is going to like it and buy it.
