        " Bad news for Metroid fans and gamers in general as Nintendo has hit the fantastic Metroid 2 remake with a DMCA Takedown notice. The site can no longer host the game but no doubt it will be uploaded elsewhere."

Keep in mind that they only DMCA'd one host site, not even the original site. Also that the DMCA wasn't actually from Nintendo but from Brian Sniffen, who by most accounts doesn't actually exist according to the Internet. 

I think that was his name at least. Something close to that

This is more one guy being a super dick than Nintendo being a dick.

I've read around this particular news to get an idea of what's going on...and I'm still not sure what to believe at the moment. Copyright/Trademark/DMCA laws are beyond my understanding at the moment, especially when it comes to international IPs.

True, there's also this "Jason Allen" who doesn't even work for Nintendo that's been taking stuff down

Anyone who enjoys 2D Metroid should google and download the mediafire link (from the dev's site). 2 hours in and having a lot of fun. Recommend using a game controller though. Been using my Gamecube controller and it plays beautifully. Watch out when you're adjusting the joypad settings and do not touch the x-y axis setting.

Yeah, I tried playing it with the keyboard and it was a bit meh. I played a hour of it.

Glad you did! Can't believe they took that down. I think the other download links in the dev site should work if anyone else wants to download it too.
