Well... There will always be a market for handheld games so I don't think it will fail. Nintendo =/= Sony for better or for worse. Yea we have some games on smartphones like the ones you mentioned but most of those games are mobile oriented or just old ports. Samsung, Apple and Google aren't really pushing mobile games that much but rather just make the platform be complatible with a wide variety of APIs and etc... Where as NX will have Nintendo's IPs as well as third party support. I mean, where are all the vita devs and 3ds devs gonna go? They can't charge $40 on a game on mobile... It just won't work proven by virtually zero games with that price tag. Most games on mobile are either free or very cheaply priced and no one has any idea whether or not its gonna be a success. The only way NX will fail is if they price it stupidly (Above $250 but even thats pushing it) and make the same mistakes they made this generation such has terrible naming, terrible marketing and etc.
Oh and not to mention most smartphone batteries go RIP when playing demanding games for long periods of time.

That handheld market is shifting towards mobile tho, I truly feel that if Sony launches PS now on mobile, that's going to really hurt Nintendo, and end the Vita, you could run PS now on a 5 Mbps connection.... And most LTE is over 15mbps

It is to a certain extent... People still want to play dedicated handheld games proven by the sales of the 3ds and its library. As for PSNow... There are several problems with it... A) Touch screen controls B) Latency C) DataCaps D) Throttling
A) Is obvious
B) While phones can certainly do 5Mbps+, the issue is that the data has to go all the way back to the tower, then to Sony's servers and then come back to the phone. This means that the distance that it has to travel is huge and no amount of Mbps can solve the distance issue. What the result will end up in is that in order to have a smooth, hitchfree experience, the users would have to use a really good wifi. Considering there have been several reports of this being a problem even on the ps4, on mobile, it will be a hugeeee drawback.
C) If you thought Netflix took a lot of data, this will probably take even more
D) We have had endless articles and reports and tests of ISPs throttling the speed during streaming Netflix, specially when the user goes above a certain amount of data. That will happen here and it will hinder the PSNow Experience.
