Forums - Nintendo - MCV: Zelda, Mario, and Pokemon games due out for NX within first six months

Few if any launch window release game announcements from Nintendo really have much meaning- They talked a big game for the Wii U launch then after the primary launch sales were over they started announcing delay after delay- So to say these games will be ready in the 1st 6 months of NX release is really not good news imo- It is basically saying buy the console now and hope the games show up later- I hope most people are shrewd enough to wait for the games - if enough games are RELEASED early then buy earlier if you want- if they are delayed and or spread out over a longer time then hold off till they have RELEASED the games you want

Sounds believable tbqh

I guess the Mario game they talk about is the next 3D Mario. I'm really excited to see how it will be.

That pokemon game sounds like a mistery tho, maybe a Sun/Moon port?

So close?

This either means handheld versions of these series or just special editions of Wii U games. No way another Zelda game is coming unless it is a party game or Hyrule warriors 2.

Right?

The Zelda game is Breath of the Wild.

The Mario game is likely from EAD Tokyo since the main team hasn't released anything since 2013.

Pokemon is more of an open question. What if it was some kind of enhanced companion version to Pokemon Go?

It could be some paying, expanded version where you can battle each other. Like 10-15 dollars for the premium version and a preinstalled fremium one for starters. It would sell their tablet in a good way.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Among all these topics and rumors, the one thing that I'm relieved to see is that nintendo is unifying the library. No longer will mario kart, party, smash bros, pokemon, etc be split between handheld and console. so many games i wish would have been on console (tv) is no longer a concern.

One of Wii U's biggest handicaps was its painfully slow start; it didn't get its first true system seller until a year and a half after launch, and by then it was too late.

NX needs to come out of the gate firing on all cylinders; if it's plagued by the same Saharan game droughts that crippled Wii U, then it will fail. Ideally, either Mario Kart 9 or Splat2n should be their holiday tentpole for 2017.

The problem is, Nintendo keeps saying "oh, we've worked hard to make sure that this time we won't have game droughts like our last system", yet it keeps on happening.

@ umegames: that is the best part without a doubt! :)

This feels like what they tried to do with the GC. Hope this time it works!

A big part of the problem is effectively having to support two consoles (yes, Nintendo portables basically became their own consoles the moment they needed to have their own Mario Kart, 2D Mario, 3D Mario, Animal Crossing, Smash Brothers, etc. done by the main EAD teams).

Now that that issue is put aside, they can probably have a lot more software ready. Taking Zelda: BoTW from the Wii U basically gifts them a free big launch title too.

Let's hope so.

Breath of the Wild will help, but hopefully they don't try to ride out 2017 on the strength of that game alone, and have another big system-seller for the holidays to maintain momentum.

Maybe something to interact with Pokemon Go?

At least that was what I would try to do, if I were them.
