Forums - Nintendo - MCV: Zelda, Mario, and Pokemon games due out for NX within first six months

I hope the price is right this time because most people dont wanna pay more than $200,- for a Nintendo handheld.

Strange, a Sun/Moon port is very unlikely, so it might be the next generation, but given the timeframe of 6 Months if NX indeed comes out in March the game would have to come out in September which is extremely unusual for Pokémon games...

It does say a new Mario game but not a new Pokemon game. GameFreak has also only developed the mainline Pokemon games, spin offs were done by other devs, so from that I assume it's probably a remaster of Sun/Moon.

I don't think so, Game Freak never did remasters, only remakes and they pointed out that they didn't want to remake Ruby/Saphire in the first place but they only did it because fans were asking for it, moreover it's not a smart move from a PR standpoint to release a remaster of your latest game which is probably one of the best selling titles in the series not even a year after it released and after all the trailers stated "3DS & 2DS exclusive" ...

That will be one zomg worthy launch if true and the games aren't just ports or something. Cause GF has been working on Pokemon Sun and Moon so its a bit weird for them to launch a new one so soon. Specially considering the performance difference.

Yeah you have a point there, red flag for this rumour.

Wouldn't really surprise me.

The main EAD Tokyo team that did Super Mario 3D World hasn't really released a game since November 2013. A small off shoot of that team did Captain Toad, but even they have not been heard from in 2 years.

Summer 2017 (lets say) will be 3 1/2 years since Mario 3D World ... they are more than overdue for a new Mario platformer.

Zelda is a given because they borrowed it from the Wii U.

Pokemon ... didn't they say the new game (Sun/Moon) has HD assets? Probably so they could do a quick port to the NX.

Also did everyone miss the "graphics are somewhere between a PS3 and PS4" part?

That's kinda big news too. For a machine that you can take on the road with you that's an astounding amount of power.

I can see Nintendo trying to have those games ready for the launch of NX. But c'mon, it's Nintendo, there will be delays.

Zelda is pretty much a given, I'd bet that game has been sitting almost finished for a while, Nintendo purposely has refused to release it because they didn't want to waste it on Wii U alone.

Mario ... like I said the EAD Tokyo team that made Mario 3D World is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overdue for a new game even by Nintendo's standards. By June 2017, it will have been 3 1/2 years since Super Mario 3D World.

So, to be honest, Mario + Zelda in the first six months at least are not really surprising at all.

This is EAD Tokyo's release schedule

Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat - spring 2005

Super Mario Galaxy - November 2007

Super Mario Galaxy 2 - May 2010 (according to EAD Tokyo this game could've been released earlier, but Nintendo had NSMB Wii for fall 2009)

Super Mario 3D Land - November 2011

Super Mario 3D World - November 2013

Captain Toad - November 2014 (note: this game was made by a small offshoot of the main EAD Tokyo team)

Nothing - 2015

Nothing - 2016

Super Mario NX (?) - Summer 2017 (?)

I was surprised nobody was mentioning it, I thought it was pretty big news.

OP: Makes sense, but I'm skeptical on the Pokemon part.

Given that we don't know when Nintendo choosed the final specs of NX and that we don't know when Nintendo picked the idea for the next Mario game, that timeline of yours is useless.

And there's also the question of which kind of Mario game, it could be a 2D platformer again (unlikely after Mario Maker, but never say never).

I did notice that, but it doesn't say much. Wii U is between PS3 and PS4, and so is Tegra X1.

What this confirms, if true, is that multiplats won't be easy.
