Yakuza holding on nicely, but PS3 is moving towards the 10k boundary of insignificance.
They should really consider to release whatever FF is ready to release.
Yay for Metroid and WE/PES 08.

That's not going to do anything. If sony wants their console to sell, they're going to need to attack the Wii. That's the only way they'll get something done. |
How can they attack the Wii? PS3Sports? PS3Fit? Super Ratchet and Clank Brawl?
Their best strategy cannot possibly be to do what Nintendoes, but to distinguish itself with things Wii can't do (you can call that attacking if you like) like ubergraphics. Point is until now that has proved very unsuccessfull.
I think the only game that can save the PS3 will be a very good FF, but as things are looking now it will come to late. SE has said it won't come in the same year as DQ9, that will mean FISCAL year, otherwise it doesn't make sense for a company. So FF13 will arrive earliest May 2009. I don't see any releases that before FF13 that will cause the PS3 to sell. MGS will cause a bump, but since it never was even a million seller in Japan, we can assume the increase will be short. After that what's there for the Japanes market? GT5 and White Night Stories will sell, but 2 releases spread over 8 months is not enough to boost the sales permanently (see Dynasty Warriors, Minna no golf, DMC, Gundam Mosou, Yakuza).
Let's be very conservative and say that on average Wii will outsell PS3 by 30.000 each week. That will mean that by the time FF arrives the gap between Wii and PS3 has GROWN with 1.5 million to around 4.5 million. That's something FF can't ever make up for. That's why I said that FF should be here tomorrow, not next year.
ps3 dropping, DS makes a small recovery, hopefully DS can stay on top
