Donkey Kong is Mario’s first outing in the gaming world, but in 1981, he was a simple carpenter known as Jumpman whose girlfriend Pauline had been kidnapped by his pet gorilla. Well, I haven't played that game, but I have fond memories of Donkey Kong Country for SNes. It was the first game I bought with my the pocket money that I had saved for a few months. I hope Nintendo won't forget Donkey Kong when developing games for NX in the coming years. In the meantime I think I'll celebrate today playing some tropical Freeze.

I remember it fondly.

I also remember seeing super mario brothers for the first time on my friends NES and thinking "I can't believe how much cooler this is than my intellivision!" Sorry Mattel.

I shall have to play my Donkey Kong cart on the Atari VCS in its honor! I think it was technically made for Colecovision, but that sort of thing didn't really matter back then lol

Donkey Kong's had a long and interesting journey... burst onto the season with a few arcades, then vanishing until the twilight years of the Snes. Tropical Freeze was one of my favorites of the past few years, so it's still going strong! :)
