Forums - Gaming - What is your opinion on sexual content in video games?

1) Do you mind them, do you wish them away?

2) Does it affect whether you play the game or not?

3) Do you think they are lame and unnecessary?

4) Are you indifferent to sexual content?

5) Do they make you laugh?

6) Or do they get you excited and happy and active?

How do you react to them?

1) I only mind it if it's clear that it's there to sell games. No, I don't want them.

2) Again, it depends. If it's not on my face all the time, it won't affect me at all.

3) Yes.

4) I guess so. But I'd rather not see it.

5) Nope.

6) No, that's what girlfriends are for (Even though I don't have one, lol).

Honestly, I think it's an unnecessary addition to games and I'd rather not have them at all (The only exception being Bayonetta, because it's too late to change her personality anyways), and I think it's a silly way of saying "Look how mature this game is". Most of the time it just makes me feel awkward.

It's like anything else, be it violence or humor or satire. If it makes sense with the game and is handled professionally, then great. If it's clumsy and forced, then no thanks.

The more pressing issue, I think - and this is something that's a bigger problem in America than Europe - is that young people are shielded from frank depictions of sex in media, but exposed freely to violence and gore. I think scenes of extreme violence and torture are much more harmful than realistic portrayals of sexual activity.

I dont really care, I like sexy characters like Bayonetta. I fucking everyone in my space ship.

Its just entertainment. But the Japanese stuff can get a bit creepy.

In RPGs and adventures with vast and varied worlds and not just dungeons, and not targeted to young kids, I find its presence absolutely normal, I even find awkward if it's avoided at all costs.
In shooters and sim racers, though, it distracts too much.

Usually unnecessary, unless you're buying a full-blown porn game.

It's not like I _want_ sexual content, but it feels super weird than most characters in games seems like 10 years old asexual boys. And if there is a kiss, make it French ! It could be a setting or something.

1) Do you mind them, do you wish them away?
I'd prefer there is
2) Does it affect whether you play the game or not?
No
3) Do you think they are lame and unnecessary?
No
4) Are you indifferent to sexual content?
No
5) Do they make you laugh?
If it's bad, it's lame, not funny
6) Or do they get you excited and happy and active?
Yeah, why not ? The God of War moments were exciting.

My opinion is that without the sex minigame in God of War, he would not have a son now and there would not be a new game. So, sexual content drives game development.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

Depends on the game, target audience and tone but overall I don't see anything wrong with something that might be mildly suggestive or titillating in a game. I won't bat an eye unless it's something really weird and unexpected but I haven't seen something like that yet.

Most of the time it's fine, depends on how it's done, more than anything else. Like I am okay with most stuff in Neptunia (doesnt' even have that much sexual content despite the rep but whatever) but wasn't quite okay with CFW Trick and Rom+Ram in the second game (also happens in the anime).
As long as it doesn't cross a certain line, put it in. I'll grasp it and pull it aaaall in.
