Forums - Nintendo - I'm not gonna give up on Metroid... I actually do want another Metroid.

Yeah you kinda lost me when you starting talking down the Wii Metroid motion controls. The ability to seamlessly transition from morph ball traversal to on foot and back, including the ability to jump in morph ball mode, combined with the excellent and speedy aiming (in advanced mode).....most excellent. It made a great game even better.

But yes, I would like another Metroid too.

Oh god no. Naughty Dog and Metroid would be poor bedfellows. The last thing Metroid needs is cinematic storytelling and scripted set pieces.

Metroid is already in the best hands. Nintendo just needs to actually make a new game.

Hm, just like how the latest Metroid game, Other M, went so well in Nintendo's hands?

Other M was a good game. And that is an universal fact.

So is Paper Mario: Sticker Star. But you see the problem, right?

A new Metroid is that one game I keep hoping for every E3, but come away disappointed every time. Metroid Prime is the first game I played on the Gamecube, and to this day, it remains my favourite for the system. And still one of my favourite Nintendo games of all time. Top 10 at least. So yeah, to say I would want another first person Metroid game is a bit of an understatement. That being said, I think it needs to either keep the controls of the gamecube versions (locking on, no free looking, etc.) or the motion/pointing controls of the Wii versions, or have the option of both, assuming the NX will support Wii Remotes. I don't like the idea of bringing in traditional FPS controls, and I don't like the idea of changing the pace and exploration aspect of a trilogy I hold dear to my heart. Basically, give me a game akin to Metroid Prime 1-3 with killer graphics, and I'm in.

So crazy that you say that. I actually hated the original controls. I stopped playing Metroid Prime on Gamecube after an hour cuz I just couldn't get used to them. But have replayed the trilogy on Wii countless times because I loved it. Made the game so much more fluid and refined. Motion controls were a great enhancement for this series.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

I just want a Metroid that plays homage to Metroid and Super Metroid on the NES and SNES respectively, right down to the art style. :/

Metroid as a franchise has a real strike against it with Nintendo. There is limited monetization in it for Amiibo. Look for the next installment to have less of an edge and more child-friendly characters that they can turn into Amiibo. At that point, I think they would consider it a more valuable IP.

You are merely deleying the inevitabale. Search your feelings. Give up. Metroid is no more. You KNOW it to be true.

I donno. The latest Amiibo from Breath of the Wild include two Link action poses and a scary looking Guardian. I think Nintendo could do well with Samus, Ridley, and Metroid Amiibo without changing the overall look of those characters/creatures.

That said, Amiibo can suck it.
