Why are people assuming Nintendo will unveil the NX in a Direct? Seems to me that it would be better if they had some sort of live conference for that.

I think the next Nintendo Direct will be in September.

E3 has just been a couple of weeks ago. Also, there's nothing else for the Wii U. My guess is an event in Sep-Oct to announce the NX and the death of traditional ND.

My Uncle works at Nintendo and he told me it would be in late August.

Just give it up already! Also there's no way they wouldn't dedicate the entire direct to NX.

If there's to be a direct between now and NX reveal, I'd expect it to be Pokemon focused, otherwise no direct at all. Besides their new IP, we know plenty enough about the very few 8th gen games Nintendo has left, and there certainly wont be anymore newly announced 8th gen games, so there isn't enough to warrant a general direct.

I don't think Directs are going to happen that often anymore sadly. Probably will be phased out eventually entirely, without Mr. Iwata it's just not the same.

And with no NX this year, there's really no point to having a ton of Directs this year. Pokemon Sun/Moon will get one but there's not a pressing need to do one for anything else.

I have a terrible feeling NX will be delayed further.

I dont see next ND before NX reveal, so that most likely means one ND before holiday season.

Probably one around October, focusing on the NX.

I dont think they will use a direct for the NX announcement, and its unlikely that there will be one before the NX is announced.
I hope they will announce it at or before Gamescom,

1. Because after the Wii U consumers will want to try out the new hardware before buying it to make sure its better,
2. Gamescom is one of the biggest gaming expos open to consumers,
3. They really need the positive word of mouth they could get there,
4. I'll be there and could try it if they bring it!  ;D

If they dont reveal it by then I'd say they will show it by October, any time later could be too late.
The next Direct will possibly be after that in November/December giving more details about NX, Launch Games, Zelda, etc...
