Splatoon will most likely keep running online services for another year or two after Wii U is discontinued/NX releases. By then I'm sure Splatoon 2 will be out and people will hop on that one instead. Wii U is dying, no need to keep minimal services around for too much longer.

I am pretty sure Splatoon online will live at least two years more, because whole point of this game is online play and game probably sold around 5m copies buy now.

Time for grieving for me. I wish I had participated in more...

I figure this could mean a few things: The team is moving on to new things, they're helping prepare for NX, they're making a Spla2n for NX.

Either way, this makes me sad... I need to get back into it.
