Forums - Nintendo - Aonuma on voice acting in new Zelda

I like that approach, hopefully the voice acting is good.

I think it would be cool if they did voice acting for all of the NPCs, alongside the standard text boxes of course. It would be weird if only very specific scenes had voice acting, considering the line between cutscenes and just talking to NPCs would probably be harder to distinguish in this game.

That is, if we're assuming that the voice acting is going to be good in the first place. Nintendo hasn't skimped out on voice acting with other releases, like Fire Emblem, so I'm hopeful.

bet: lost

I'm not a fan of bad voice acting, but if it's good then I wouldn't be complaining much

Since Link himself is silent, I really don't have any problems aside from the fact that the voice in the trailer and gameplay does sound a bit weird to me

Personally, I'm really hoping that they use some of the Hylian language in this. Hell, you have a Hylian alphabet, you might as well have a language to go along with it somewhere! I just think that it would add another layer to seriousness, drama, and impact to the cutscenes that use voice acting. I don't know how many of you guys have scene the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but everytime they've used some of the Elvish language in some scenes, they added a whole other layer of drama, angst, and impact to them, like when Elrond gave Aragorn the reforged Narsil in Return of the King, or in one of the deleted scenes in Fellowship of the Ring, Gandalf reworded the black speech of Mordor that was on the Ring during the Counsel of Elrond, and the entire area went dark and he got more intimidating. It may be just me, but I think the right mix of English voice acting and Hylian voice acting (wouldn't that be something to here?) could really add something to the cutscenes that do have VA that would really deliver that impact, impressions, and emotions that Aonuma was talking about in this interview.

Well, I'm fine with it if its only minor segments here and there, might actually make it more impactful.Hopefully the rest of the VA is good though.

Was that said in the extended gameplay? I'm scared to watch it because of spoilers. T^T

honestly I don't get this half ass attempt form them to put it in some parts of the game.

as i've been saying for YEARS how hard is to to enable voice acting ON/OFF in the bloody options menu lol.

This will cater to both groups, ones who want voice acting and ones who don't.

But all the previous Loz games already had beautiful voice acting.

To be fair, that's the WRITING not the VOICE ACTING.  If you hate the LINE that's the WRITER'S fault.  The voice actor did perfectly adequate work.  If you don't like the line, that's hardly the voice actor's fault :P
