Forums - Gaming - What should be the reasonable lifespan of a console?

At minimum 5 years

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

5 minimum 6 maximum but with these mid gen things I am expecting each iteration to last at least 3-4yrs but be supported for at least another 3-6yrs.

For me at least 6 years and max 9.

I would say 5 to 6 years at a minimum. Anything shorter than that is for a console that hasn't fared well.

I think consistency is most important. So if every 5 years then keep it that way. People will know that if they buy a console on release they have 5 solid years. Surprise us with the games not the console's release date.

4-5 years. I won't be buying another console until holiday 2018 at the earliest.

Acceptable lifespan for me can vary from console to console, depending on multiple factors, like the promise, pricing, games avaliable, potential alternatives, technological advancements, etc.

6 years :)
