If Sony do make a PS4 slim, which I think they will as they have done with every other console they have released - including handhelds, I hope it is as impressive a change as the PS2 slim!! Now that was a micro-console!!
I don't think we will see a slim PS4 due to the 28nm fab on the APU. The XBOS is still bigger than the PS4.
The only thing I see happening is a 3000 model with 4K Blu-ray, 1TB HDD, and a price cut to $299.99.
I think the NEO will add a few more USB ports, another HDMI for PSVR, and have a more premium look. Probably be 2TB HDD, and be priced at 499.99. I am guessing Sony will ship new dev kits with the other APU with the newer CPU cores allowing for higher clocks, therefore being more inline with Scorpio. And they will match the 12GB of RAM as well.

They will make the Neo as cheap as possible, and lower the normal PS4 version price point.

to make PS4 cheaper a Slim would be a great help, they didn't shrink the older consoles only for the look

Of course they are going to release a slim alongside the Neo. Why wouldn't they? It means more profit for them because more consoles sold.

They should focus on the Neo. Slim's unneeded. Fortunately they didn't make the system beast sized in the first place.
Some people here seem to have the impression a slim model would be because the audience needs it. The thing is, the motive for a slim model is reducing manufacturing costs, not providing a better console to the audience.
Yh there will be a slim. As of last year the board of the PS4 had already shrunk by about a third of what it was originally
