I don't think Sony fans are denying MS from creating or supporting new IPs, it's just that in comparison they are weak. Don't want to start a list war, but since you have included Indie, just look at the new IPs on PS4:

The Order

Bloodborne

Until Dawn

Drive Club

Nier Automata

Ni-Oh

Dreams

Resogun

Alienation

Days Gone

No Man's Sky

TLG

This doesn't include any of the harcore jrpgs, new IPs within established franchises, many other indies or VR games.

Nier is not a new IP.
No Man's Sky is possibly coming to Xbox One as well.

Don't think so. The box art on NMS says console exclusive.

Doesn't matter, people tweeted the most about Zelda.

Anyway, sounds great, I'll probably be playing a few of these!

A billion sounds like a lot, but then you realise AAA games can cost anything from $50-250 million.

I don't think games like:

Ryse, Halo5, Quantum Break, TF, RotTR, Gears, Forza's and Scalebound come cheap.

Buying or the Gears franchise alone must have cost a pretty penny let alone making the game, and if you just count costs for making the game or buying a product (timed or full exclusive), not marketing, you are still looking at over a billion in costs if Ryse, Halo 5, Gears and one Forza cost a $100mil each.

There was a thread in neogaf which indicated gears of war IP ownership costed $70 to $100 million and rise of the tomb raider deal was $40 to $50 million. And given the number of AAA games from Microsoft it hadn't surpassed $1 Billion yet. Because if it's above $1 Billion then their biggest competitor might have spent $3 to $4 Billion in games. It's impossible.

If gears IP cost $70Mil, and to remaster the collection and make the new one cost $120Mil, that alone is almost $200Mil.

Since then, they have paid to make Sunset Overdrive, Forza 4, Forza Horizon2, Forza 5, Forza Horizon 3, Ryse, Halo 5, Quantum Break, KI, RotTR, Dead Rising 4, Scalebound and TF.

There is no way all of those came in under a billion. Ryse and Quantum Break alone probably cost $200+ million due to length of development and the production of game and TV segments.

I agree, Sony probably has spent more, but they probably saved money for using first parties and made more profit on them too.

Expending 200M to have a Gears remaster doesn't seem like a very wise decision on my opinion... and another 100M on Ryse then I won't even begin, and unfortunatelly QB hasn't got all the good review iit was expected.

Well this thread sure went to shit quickly.

Anyway, she said most of the titles haven't even been announced yet. So she's clearly on a different wavelength than most in the thread.

Which first party games of Microsoft?

Gears of War Ultimate Edition, Gears of War 4, Halo5, Master Chief Collection, Forza 5, 6 and horizon 2 and 3, Minecraft, Halo wars, Sea of thieves, Rare replay, Ori and the Blind Forest lots of great stuff from microsoft, i might be missing some, sony also has impressive first party studio's (arguably more impressive) but they have been slow at releasing games in the first 3 years.

Gears is a remaster, Gears of War 4 isn't even out.

Halo 5 was good but the worst in the series. MCC is a remaster.

Forza 5 and Forza 6 aren't as good as Horizon 2 but those games are 2nd party and as you said for Sony, those don't count.

Minecraft isn't an exclusive, they barely have anything to do with the success of the game. Halo Wars isn't out, neither is Sea of Thieves.

Rare Replay is a bunch of old games, and Ori is second party and as you said, doesn't count.

So what? Halo 5, 2 racing games in which a 2nd party is doing better? That's it? That's suppose to be better than inFamous, Uncharted 4, MLB, Driveclub (a racing game people enjoyed a shit ton and still talk about), and Tearaway Unfolded? And of course this isn't much better, but most would argue that just Uncharted 4 is better than those 3 games.

14 games in development, not including the ones coming in 2019-2020.

how do you know that? I would say even if a game is in early development, they would include it in this list.

EDIT: Nevermind, I understood that, games that aren't even in development? Can't think of any other than Forza and Gears?

yeah that is not impressive at all. in fact it is a pretty low number when you count in games that already launched but still get support and second parties

1- Halo 6
2- Gears 4
3- Recore
4- Sea of Thieves
5- Rare second game
6- Dead Rising 4 or Phantum dust??
7- Forza Horizon 3
8- Forza 7
9- Killer instinct
10- Minecraft
11- Scalebound
12- Halo wars 2
13- State of Decay 2
14- Crackdown

if this does include games MS is developing and funding, then thats really a horrid list. if its just second/third party games that MS is publishing, then it would be a better situation. but either way, their weak software development showed this E3 when MS didnt announce one new AAA exclusive.

Minecraft doesn't even count,lol.

Like I said earlier in this thread I could see a new IP, like how Recore, Scalebound, and Sea of Thieves are new for Xbox.

if they are inlcuding killer instinct why wouldnt they include minecraft? both games are getting continues support and content.
