That may be true, but why didnt the WiiU get the later 360 and PS3 games?

So it would be as easy as making a powerful console to get every core gamer back? |
Of course not, I'm not saying that, I'm saying more will leave if they don't do something.
A lot of people I hear on forums bought a WiiU and felt like it didn't leave up to their expectations. They won't buy an NX if they feel it will be an obsolete system
Again, I don't know if you read me, but I'm not saying the NX should have great specs. I'm just saying, be more in the same ballpark, make it easy for third parties to port their games.
But yes people won't come back just like that, that's true, but if you don't start somewhere, and don't change something, the NX will sell even worse than the WiiU

Nope, i dont care about graphics to the exact to be mad about it, obviously i dont want Nintendo to go back to NES visuals but hopefully you get my point.
We have seen with Wii & Wii U that Nintendo has been able to release amazing & beautiful games without having hardware on par with the competitors.
Games like Mario Galaxy, Prime 3, Twilight Princess/Skyward Sword, Endless Ocean looked great upon release and games like Mario Kart 8, Xenoblade X, Captain Toad, Woolly World look great.
I personally do not want Nintendo to go into a power battle with PS/XB because im a strong supporter of a unified platform where the handheld & console share the same library. In theory, this should help Nintendo release quality games in a more timely manner and that is far more important to me than being powerful.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
Perhaps people like the good games they consistently put out, you dont need high end specs to make a good game. Nintendo dont need power, they wont even get good third party support even if they have the specs. What Nintendo need to do is continue to make great games, but at a faster pace to avoid droughts. Hopefully this is something they are addressing with their unified library.
Because games > resolution.
Nintendo just needs to not have game droughts.
And a cheap unit price, and it ll do fine.

How exactly do you know "a lot of their core fans left"? Plenty of people could have owned a gamecube because it was cheap and had a few games that were interesting to them. I wouldn't call these people core fans. Plus Nintendo was losing fans before this.
Also, caring and not caring are not some binary. If many core fans stayed for the Wii and Wii U I can't see why they wouldn't stay for the NX if it were only as powerful as the PS4. Nintendo fans are fans because they like Nintendo's games. I personally am primarily a PC gamer these days, but I still bought a Wii U and 3DS because Nintendo games entice me, even if I have to see aliasing while I play them.
No they haven't you have just gotten older and think Nintendo should throw aside their family values

I see what you mean, but Im not convinced that a more powerful system is the answer. Sure they might get more third parties on board, but would they sell enough to justify putting more of their games on it? Several of us Nintendo fans do buy third party games, but Im not so sure that we are in the majority. I think they need to get more studios and just keep pumping out great games. That will probably get the attention of both core gamers and casuals. And then if the console does well, the third party studios will take notice as well.
