Forums - Microsoft - Judging by the reactions here, MS maybe is doing right with Scorpio.

Don't worry much, OP, VGC has a couple of Xbox supporters who are experts at doing what you're talking about, you can join up with them. You're off to a good start with the 'Poison the Well' strategy, too.

Xbox community is dead on this site, they all vanished once the X1 flopped.

The number of X1 fans here is irrelevant, my point is Why so much attention for a product so wrong, that you  wont gonna buy anyway?

Yes, the answer is "because is not wrong, is attractive, and I fear that Microsoft can punch hard this time"

Ppl are just analysing with only the information they have at hand right now, wich is limited to a very early reveal of Scorpio specs without anything showing us what exactly does that mean on pratice. When Neo gets confiration on its specs we will likely have tons of topics talking about how it is a bad move for Sony having a weaker box than MS etc etc. Anyway my opinion is, neither the Neo or the Scorpio matter much, hardcore comunity seen to think its a new generation but the fact is these upgraded consoles are aimed at us hardcores (I asume most ppl who talk on VGC is an avid gamer), for the general public wich is the vast majority they will go with the basic versions most likely. And the games line up for both will still be a decisive factor when someone is going to buy either of them or an NX. So maybe the Scorpio can succeed more than the Neo, I don't think thta changes much on the overall scenario of this gen tough.

The reaction on here has been quite strong, and I'm not even sure why that's the case. o_o; When it comes to the Scorpio, we're looking at something that's a year and a half away from showing up and hasn't even presented a price point. It's hard to say where the current Xbox One is going to be in terms of marketshare that far in advance, impossible to guess when the Neo will release or at what pricepoint IT is going to be at... we know almost nothing, really, other than the Neo and Scorpio exist, and the Scorpio will be beefier than the Neo. =P Even if the Scorpio DOES present some form of threat to Playstation's current marketshare dominance, it's an incredibly distant one.

Basically I'm seeing a lot of predictions being made at a time when I feel more information is needed, plain and simple. Similarly, I couldn't even begin to guess at how successful the Neo might or might not be whenever it comes out at whatever sodding price it's going to come out with. When more information on both the Scorpio and Neo is available- the exact dates both release, confirmed third party support insofar as who is/isn't taking advantage of the hardware, and of course their respective price points- then I might take a closer look at it. It was pretty enjoyable trying to figure how the consumer base was going to react to the base PS4 and Xbox One back during the early days, and what Microsoft and Sony would do to try and upsell them, so the Neo and Scorpio might inject some excitement back into this generation from a sales tracking perspective. =D

Console wars are apparently alive and well :). It´s fascinating to see the downplaying occuring here and, even though I like MS´s PC/XBox direction more than new hardware, it´s great that they are still betting on XBox as a brand.

That's exactly my point, we don't know almost nothing about Scorpio or Neo, but Scorpio hace generated a huge amount of criticism and FUD here. All depends of execution, how Sony & Microsoft will act from now, but all this hate tell me that Scorpio is a reason to be worried for a Sony fan, and maybe for Sony itself, and that only can be good for MS, and for gaming industry.

^ Completely agree.

Also, have you seen the NX threads? We currently know MORE about Scorpio than about NX and it hasnt stopped people from opening a whole bunch of "NX is dead an arrival" "NX needs to fail" "Nintendo fucked up and needs to go third party" etc... Threads all over the forum. Its just getting tiring.

But my point is I don't understand why people ARE getting so worked up. x3 Whether the Scorpio will prove some big threat is going to hinge on several factors we just don't know about yet. I will say that if the Scorpio releases soon after or even before the Neo (let's say, less than six month difference,) at a similar price point (say, 100$ gap between it and the Neo at most,) with similar software support that the Neo has, then yeah, I can see it gaining traction. =P Missing those windows, imo, puts it at a disadvantage its beefier hardware may not compensate for, but even that is largely speculative on my part. Until we know more, I'd have better luck throwing darts at a board to make a prediction. =P

Edit: Just to clarify, the reason I'm specifying this point is, if the idea is 'Sony fans are backlashing, ergo this is something Sony should worry about,' it breaks down for me because I don't even get why the Sony fans are backlashing. ...beyond this being the Internet, of course. You should see the System War Forums on Gamespot. One group downplaying to oblivion, the other heralding Scorpio as the greatest thing since peanut butter. =P

It's actually quite hilarious how angry some people are at MS simply because MS wants to give them the best video game hardware ever made.
