Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Reggie on NX: "For us it's not about specs"

Of course it's not important for them. And with that attitude they can just have their own little ecosystem completely kept alive by first party content. Because Nintendo is everything that counts, fans or developers shouldn't have any say in their vision.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Then hopefully, they have a plan and a price that will make it fly off the shelves. Cause if they price it $300 in 2017 and its around x1 specs, then esssh. They really need a way to attract people but idk wut that is since third parties are probably not gonna bother again.

If Nintendo doesn'te to go for expansive controller or an exotic architecture, with current tech I belive you can have better performance for less. I'm just looking the new graphics cards AMD just announced, the RX460 will be in the 100-130$ range and it's already theorically more powerfull than a Ps4 (except the bandwidth).

Yea but I believe that some rumours said it wont even be competing with ps4. I really hope its at least as powerful as a ps4 in 2017 since the parts are fairly inexpensive

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

The most probable is that he marks the comparison with the 4k consoles, so it should still be around PS4 - X1 power or a bit more, which to say the true is more than enough.

Since even with Neo and Scorpio coming, at the end Neo is just a beef up PS4 and Scorpio at the end just sounds like a beef-up X1, and as both Sony and MS stated, the games for those two will be playable in PS4 and X1, so it is doubtful that 3rd parties will even take advantage of the power boosts because of said things and how they are just beef-up versions of the same console for the "OMG GRAPHICS!!!" crowd. So NX wouldn't suffer much and would benefit from being the nly one that doesn't split its install base between the OG versioin of the console and a beef-up one. Aside that the expecting devs to make a regular version of the game and a more beef-up version feels like it could backfire greatly.

COMG guide to points: 1 point = Raging. 2 points = Beasting. 3 points = Tearing it up. 4 points = Berzerk. 7 points = Rampage. 12 points = Burst. 15 points = god mode. 20+ points = DIVIDING BY ZERO!!! 40+ points = Youkai (originally Pokemon).

-1 = Negabeasting. -5= NegaRampage. -10 = NegaBurst

I dunno if we should take what Reggie says too seriously.

I don't care if its a beast, I would just like it to be something that can at the very least receive scaled down games from 3rd parties and be easy to develop for to ensure a steady flow of software.

Why not? We take everything every exec ever say seriously. Of course Reggie is a total Reggie but he's not the only one at Nintendo who hates technology.

Thats a RX460 right? those are supposed to be over 2 Teraflops of gpu compute power.

Thats faster than the PS4 as well.

Id like to see Nintendo do a console about as powerfull as the PS4 for like 200$ at retail.

Didn't they delay the NX to make it VR compatible?
If that's the case, it should be at least as powerful as the ps4-x1, right?

man i wish sega was still in the console race
