Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo addressing the family market with NX according to Ubisoft

Prediction: Will NX top Wii in sales?

Yes 38 14.29%

No 185 69.55%

Yo Mama 43 16.17%

Total:266

What I'm getting at is that the NX is a family oriented console? o_O

It was never a normal controller to me with it's asymetrical button layout, extremely small d-pad, and a second stick that was not analog. Maybe normal compared to Nintendo's other wonky controllers, but it was still designed mainly with Nintendo's own games in mind. That button layout feels great for Smash and Mario Kart. Not so much much for fighting games along with the d-pad.

I want a controller where none of it's quirks imposes on any particular game or genre in a profound way.

It's a normal standard controller, you not liking doesn't change that, all controllers of the time had their own design.

Not necessarily. It just says that is an audience that they are taking into account, which is a good thing since I would assume all console manufacterers should take into account all audiences anyway. It doesn't mean that they are strictly focusing on that audience. (I doubt they would do that again anyway).

NX top Wii in sales? The PS4 has a small chance (and that depends on what we consider to count as "PS4"), that's about it. We may not see those numbers again in the console market.

Most of the games I love from them are perfect for kids and such, so that's no particular surprise. Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, Mario Kart...

I suppose the only worry is that it might preclude more mature titles from appearing on the console.

Well if anything, Nintendo is already the master at family oriented games so not sure why they needed to mention this unless they're really pushing this moreso than their competitors.

And yes im sure all consoles should already have taken into account for all audiences including family.  (Which is why Sony did show Lego Star Wars at their conference over many other great games that deserved to be shown).

Nothing new there. I'm going to hope that means the price will be in the $250 range. Please Nintendo.... please!

Yup. Sold my Wii long ago (including xenoblade). Was interested in Wii U but tablet + high price turned me off.

And some people tell me that these are not the main problems of  wii u... lol

Because one person said it was for him? That's not how it works

Nintendo released a purple cube with a wonky controller and proprietary disc storage... That's why GC failed and doesn't support your points

Nope, had nothing to do with the terrible advertising and huge droughts of games, it was the price and the controller (lol).
