Forums - Nintendo - Wii U Struggles to Run Zelda: BotW

The problems mostly appeared to be Twitch. From what I saw the game was running perfectly even when he did that bit where he was gliding down the mountain, snowboarding, hitting jumps, and gliding again, all while moving very quickly.

The game appeared to keep up with him both there and in the fight against the guardian, so I think it ran pretty well.

It's unfair (and dumb) to judge a game's framerate on stream. I'm certain there will be some sudden drops (big explosions usually are the cause) or very few drastic drops.

When it comes to Nintendo, they will make sacrifices to have a consistent, steady and respectable framerate. Not visceversa. Also, the game is around 8 months from release so there's plenty of time to fix those kind of problems.

Edit: But I do want to point out that people are reporting noticeable FPS  drops.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

No it doesn't, this has already proven to be false, look the uploaded footage on youtube yourself, it looks smooth.

Do you honestly believe the Wii U version will be at the forefront post NX reveal?

It's the stream, I watched GameXplain's videos and the game look fine, no dips or at least not noticeable to make it look bad.

This thread is about Zekda having a bad framerate, Pavolink says that this is because the NX version is the priority but the thing is... there is not a bad framerate at all to beggin with so his statement makes no sense in this context, the framerate is fine, go and watch youtube footage and you'll see, the hiccups he saw were purely because of the stream.

It was already reported dips on the E3. I think someone else posted in this thread. Anyway, that's normal on this kind of massive game. I mean, it's not only pretty, but the level of interactiveness and posibilities are well beyond any imagination I had. So it's normal to me. And yes, I believe the NX version is the main one and will look outstanding.

Can't wait to play asap.

It is normal, but I dont see it outside the streaming, I think it looks totally smooth and to be that smooth when the game is at least 9 months far from release, does not indicate that it will suffer any kind of performance issue due to the NX version being a priority.

I honestly dont think the NX will look much better, just have better resolution and maybe framerate.

Ah well your initial post directly said no to Pavolink's which only said NX version is the main one. And yes there are slight drops, but nothing major or out of the ordinary for a Wii U game.

On this game that alone means a lot. Imagine better resolution and framrate? I want to see. Hopefully this october-november.

While I am sure the game's huge and seamless world is considerably straining Wii U's chipset, (particularly with all the dense and interactive vegetation) it should also be noted that there's still 9 months left before release, so things like framerate and draw-in could be improved by then.
