Forums - Nintendo - Ubisoft just announced Just Dance for the NX, and that makes me nervous.

Why?

Because it will bomb. Cancel it and make a console for gamers in 2020 or so, and pay for ports of all big titles. This casual low-spec garbage will not sell consoles anymore.

the Just Dance games have sold reallyyyy well on the Wii. Like I believe the 2015/2016 edition sold incredibly well on the Wii practically TODAY. Nintendo has a big fanbase for Just Dance and Ubisoft makes money on barely changing the format and not bothering hardly with updates. of course they're going to keep pushing them out

When out of all the games Ubisoft announced today only Just Dance will make it to the NX, that means that NX won't be in the radar. Casuals don't buy consoles anymore, that's why the Wii versions of Just Dance still sell so well today.

Seeing how the host was acting, I don't think she and Ubi even give a damn. They roll how they WANT.

Dance my pretties!

This either confirms....
- Wii motes will still continue
- New motion control
- Or just Smartphones will be able to work on the NX.

Pocky Lover Boy!

I fail to see how this is an issue. Square announced DQXI for NX some time ago, did they not?

I'd be nervous if major third parties were positive about NX, because that would mean that they hold the power to sink the platform. The recent comments from EA gave me hope.

They hold that power regardless. Third parties, or lack thereof, basically silenced any prospects of a comeback from the wii u.

Nintendo may as well just make a weird console, they don't have any chance against Sony/MS. Maybe if MS was leaving the industry there would be an opening but they don't have one now with Scorpio MS is doubling down on going after Sony, there is no room for a third wheel console.

Honestly in terms of dedicated game hardware, the portable market, or whatever is left of it, probably has to carry Nintendo.

The mistake was already made in allowing both Sony and MS to take over the mainstream console market, you can't allow two companies that big just step all over your turf and think you're going to win it back like 20 years later. They needed to fight tooth and nail and the GameCube at minimum needed to bloody MS' nose so badly that they wouldn't want to come back, but Nintendo never made a stand there and these are the consequences.

no chance against Microsoft? you are aware that Microsoft generally LOSES money on their video game division right? like almost every year of its existence. success is only so valuable if you're earning nothing really from it. The only reason they both is because they are a huge corporation and want to keep a significance in a number of industries in some cases regardless of success

Nintendo MAKES money

in terms of total software and hardware (handheld +  home console) Nintendo pushes a lotttt more units than Microsoft

in fact the X-One has been doingfairly poorly recently.

If Nintendo just makes a smart home console or somehow connects their handheld audience with their home console audience again then they will be hugely competitive against even Sony. just a matter of making smart decisions

Sony and Microsoft will never have the clout that Nintendo has in the gaming industries. You can't go into any toy store or Hot Topic without seeing a ton of Nintendo branded items- they are extremely relevant

also I wouldn't put too much wait in loose announcements for the NX. Ubisoft is probably allowed to announce games they are releasing on the NX as long as it gives literally nothing away. Simply stating that the next Just Dance will be on the NX means nothing really. Its a franchise that does extremely well on Nintendo systems and it was a given that Ubisoft would continue releasing them. Hell I think even the 2015 or 2016 Just Dance on the original Wii (Still?) of all things sold really well. its free cash for Ubisoft

Microsoft was never in it for the money. The xbox division is chump change to microsoft. They are in it for marketshare. To have an xbox one in every household to remind people of the wonders that is microsoft. That's why they are aggresively pushing for pc/xbone games.

Playstation does this too. Every ps3 had a blu ray player to help push blu ray.

Nintendo barely makes money and that is only from their declining handheld sales (the wii u is dragging everything down). While the Xbone fight the ps4, the wii u is fighting the vita (and is losing).

Nintendo won't be making a grand comeback miraculously and Microsoft is more than willing to spend a lot more to make sure of it.

You see, I was under the impression that no 3rd party company could announce their projects for the Nintendo NX before the unveiling for the console. However, Ubisoft did just that. I'm sure it's not a big deal, because it's Just Dance and it sells the best on Nintendo systems since the Wii. But now I'm a little nervious. Did Ubisoft just ignored Nintendo's orders about the NX games? Is Nintendo fine with that, and we'll see more NX announcements from this moment on? That racing game from some weeks ago had to blurr its ad to hide the NX.  Or there are NO orders from Nintendo against NX releases, and this is jus one of the few 3rd party games for the system's first year? What is going on?

Wasn't Dragonquest announced for the NX some time ago?

Yeah, but considering that was such a long time ago and nothing was announced for the NX until that racing car game and Just Dance, I just assumed Nintendo decided to put the NDAs after the DQ announcement.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

This is very telling. We can all believe that there is still some reason 3rd parties are not announcing their games for NX, or we can simply come to the conclusion that as far as third party mulitplats it's looking like another Wii U situation.

Me personally, I'm looking at another Wii U situation. It's going to come down to paid exclusives and 1st party titles again for NX.
