Forums - Microsoft - How is the Xbox One benefitting from Play Anywhere?

play anywhere is on 'SELECT' games I just read. so the 2 games I got on PC are also availble on X1 but if I bought it for my x1 i wouldn't get it on my pc...unless I did the stream thing with the xbox app which would defeat the purpose.

the reason I bought the 2 on the pc is that my vid card is better then my x1's

so this play anywhere seems good but not that good as 3rd parties are not involved.

Why should it convince people to buy an X1? Is it likely that you will buy some of MS´s exclusive games now that they are also coming to W10? In that case their plan has worked, since software is where they make the revenue.

So the problem was actually coming from the Xbox camp where they felt that the games should stay on Xbox.   What they don't understand is that by Microsoft expanding the base through PC, their games can be more profitable and they can get even more games on their Xbox.  It goes both ways.  you don't have to build a rig  and you don't have to buy and Xbox in order to play their games.

I am not sure MS going XBox/PC was ever an issue with most XBox fans. I was more dissapointed that MS moved away from PC so focus on console, since both platforms were always a given place for MS to exist within. If anything,, the whole XBox/PC thing meaning games aren´t "exclusive" enough has been more of a talking point from some gamers who primarily have Playstations, at least that has been my impression. Now, MS will move into Sony´s hardcore fanbase with W10, getting more and more Sony gamers to buy MS games. And that was kind of their plan all along.

It's not meant to do anything for the Xbox. It might convince the odd PC gamer to grab one for the spare room but it's, to me, entirely an attempt to cover their bases for a potential shift of the Xbox brand to entirely PC if they choose to go that route.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

They gave the consumer less reason to buy an X1. Aren't consoles out there for the exclusives we don't get to play on PC? If PS and Nintendo exclusives become available on PC, the consoles are unnecessary. Let's assume they will do the same approach with Xbox 4: all its games are also playable on PC and the performance is always better on PC. Then what's its selling point? If the Xbox doesn't sell, they will lose money.

MS number one priority is to sell software.

pc users are benefiting, xbox users are not really unless you own both platforms

It benefits MS.

It makes Xbox more sustainable and less confined to one particular piece of hardwares success or failure.

Does it help Xbox One sales? Meh, probably not, at least not in the immediate future.

Larger playerbase. There's obviously some disadvantages to Play Anywhere too, but there's also a clear benefit and maybe more.

Quite simply, I'm a Nintendo guy here that refuses to buy Sony and Microsoft (or any other) consoles. But who doesn't own a PC?

I think MS Idea is for everyone to either get on board with XBOX OR WIN10
