Forums - Gaming - What's happened to Kamiya-san? Scalebound is extremely awful

Can someone explain to me what exactly is so bad about Scalebound? I admit, I am not a Platinum fan by any stretch of the imagination, so I don't really know what makes their games so special. But the game looks good enough to me, which is why I don't quite understand the dislike it seems to get.

I can't speak for everyone but the guy said biggest boss in any PG game, but his previous games have had bigger bosses.

A lot of PG fans like myself love the fast and curious action gameplay but the gameplay shown was slow and looked boring in comparison.

Some people do not like the protagonist. I think he reminds people of Donte, so naturally those liking the reboot like him, but those who didn't don't.

They're being asked to make a Western focused game and they can't do it.

Whoever is the producer/handling the project on Microsoft's end has no passion for the games P make.
To be fair Platinum has been pretty poor in working with first parties before, Star Fox has a bad reputation.
W101 is the best but not earth shattering

The best games they've had (Bayonetta, Vanquish, Metal Gear) were all with third party Japanese companies.
Bayonetta started as a third party game that's why N didn't screw it over.

P tried to appeal to the Nintendo crowd with SF and W101 and failed.
P tries to appeal to Microsoft gamers and we get this shite.
P should stop working with hardware partners... Maybe Sony Japan is a better fit, but let's not risk it.

(To be fair maybe the game just looks shit now but is good later.)

It looked really REALLY slow, most of the time the boss was just standing still doing nothing...

The battle seemed slow - and pointless.

Fire some arrows that did nothing. Attack some. Fire more arrows that do nothing. Even with a QTE and beat the boss - the end.

You just described most japanese games...

Seems quite good to me. Better than most japanese games I've played this gen.

What is curious gameplay?

Kamiya  said this was not suppose to be fast paced. Its an action rpg

It looked fine to me.

Most Japanese games like this are the opposite. Games like Devil May Cry, Asura's Wrath, Onimusha, Bayonetta etc are fast with some of the most amazing boss battles.

It was just not the best demo to give at a E3 stage, I dont want to see a tedious boss fight. We all know how boss fights go so u have to have something very special to impress me with it, they didn't. Rather had a demo of him running around killing small bad guys but in new locales.

But guys! Beats and sick techno for all the hip kids!

My hopes and dreams for this game lay in ruins before me.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Using swipe. Was supposed to be furious lol

Yup, he did say that, not denying that, but it still looks pretty underwhelming compared to other games he has made.who knows, it might play really well and if you like what you see, that's all that matters.
