I don't get it? Why announce Scorpio now, with specs? Why after four years a ~4 to 5x upgrade?. Surely they're just leaving themselves open for Sony to come out at next years E3 and go: here's the PS5, it's been five years it's the next gen. No wonder they're not announcing, would they scrap the current NEO IDK so many questions

You seem to be under the assumption that there will still be gens. Sony is bringing Neo this or next year, why would they have a new console just one year after that?

Its a weird time for consoles indeed.

ps5 won't be announced next year. ps4 neo 2 will probably be released in 2018 or 2019 with a "surprise" announcement following a year of obviously true rumors.

Huh? Sony has the NEO..  They wouldn't release the NEO then another console less then a year later..  Also..  Even if a PS5 came out next year. It won't be better spec'd then what Xbox is saying the Scorpio will be.  SO it wouldn't matter.

One word. Desperation. Why else?

I guess I figured that's one of the reasons consoles were still a thing, otherwise I know i'd get a PC. The advantages and disadvantages of each pretty much cancel out anyway.

That's also why I wondered if they'd scrap those NEO plans, it would be doable and might work out in the long run.

To be honest I think they realized they're not going anywhere with the XBox One.

Scorpio is the console they know they should've released (or at least the philosophy thereof) ... the most powerful console hardware namely.

So Scorpio is basically their future.

Because they re hopeing to stop people buying PS4 neo's.
Even if it means throwing their own new slim console under the bus.
