Agreed, unless they seriously remake the store so that it finally becomes user friendly and lets us organize things properly.

For the same reason you buy a new console, that new OS are released on phones making old ones obsolete and so on: New things are released and old things are left behind, and if you want everything that comes with the new, the easiest thing is to jump aboard. Windows 7 is still supported and will be for many years but it is better that MS focuses on making W10 the primary OS and put their efforts into it. That being said, the way they tried to push W10 unto user in China is just cheap, they should encourage users instead with W10 exclusive services. |
The same excuse was used by them with 8 in regards to 7 but 7 still chugged on. 10 Isn't lighting the world on fire and doing things 10X more better than 7 is along with the fact 10 does things that some people just don't like at all and I'm one of those people. 7 Still works for me, gives me exactly all I've ever wanted from an OS and can easily be installed on one machine to another. All my games still work fine and dandy and with an SSD my boot ups straight from cold work wonders for me.
See while some people like 10, I've always noticed throughout life that just because you think one guy does it better suddenly means we all should be some unwritten law, I mean the majority of these "why you should upgrade to windows 10" arguments stem from folk who can't stand seeing other people using an older OS or something different, that's why I asked on why was it so hard to understand a different view on the OPS, why must I have to like and install what you like?, why must I do as you command (because lets face it those who love 10 want everyone to use 10 or they wouldn't be making arguments to force them into using it or ridiculing them either).
I'm not swayed by exclusive services because that just means I'd have to agree to locking myself into a garden where none of those features exist afterwards or say another 20 years in the future. What I want is an OS exactly (right to the T) like 7 that doesn't involve treating games like Apps, where a store and Siri like clone aren't a part of the OS, where all and I mean every single game on PC works on the damn OS and isn't locked to a single motherboard, where I can easily without ever in my life having to call an Indian service line to have my OS key sorted, also along with support to other clients and only then would that OS get my attention, sadly that OS is not 10.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

And what is so hard with just upgrading for free to W10? |
Because W10 is an upgrade in a lot of ways and a downgrade in a lot of ways. It's a much more intrusive and controlling system than W7, so I can't fault anyone for avoiding it. It's not like it's a clear upgrade across the board.

That and once the "free upgrade" period is over, the OS attaches to my current mobo and I lose my 7 key entirely which means I;ve traded an OS that I can easily use on other new PC's to one that only works on a single one and becomes a greater issue of having to call or beg MS to sort their shit out, I shouldn't have to but someone will no doubt come to defend why it is what it is. That option of theirs just solidifies that they would rather lock me into a single system where I don't have the fredom to do what I want when I want.

I have no issue at all if you want to stay with Wndows 7, it´s completly up to you and MS shouldn´t force you like what they tried in China. But then I guess you have no issue at all with them releasing exclusive features that you miss out on, like if they release 360 games only on Windows 10? It will not diminish the quality of Windows 7 that you enjoy, it just means you have made a concious decision to not take part of those features. I myself is not ompletely happy with everything about W10 (even though I much prefer it to W7 which never was a favorite of mine anyways), but I know that MS continually listen to consumers and improve on their systems, constantly making them better.

Seriously? Goddamn it, Microsoft.
Things like this are why people don't trust them. This, and W10 resetting my default browser from Chrome to Edge a couple days ago.

Agreed, but if we then choose to stay with the old OS, we will need to accept that we won´t be able to take part in all the new things releasing on the newer OS. I would much rather that MS focus all their resources on the new release instead of spreading out their resources across several OS´s.

Yea that and being able to play the ME series again would be awesome.

I can't say I'm going to miss out on some super exclusive never before seen features that I've never really cared for before. It's hard to even say I miss something when I never really missed it to begin with, it feels like most of the time when some people say that it's to make them feel purposely like they shouldn't be msising out on something others think is amazing by all standards, but all standards aren't the same so missing out isn't really the rule at play if no one cares about something someone else does.
Releasing those games only on Windows 10 doesn't interestet me nor does it diminish my OS, I;'m still not missing out on something I can emulate or otherwise not care for.
I wish I could be like you but I;ve seen and known enough of MS to know that really isn't the complete case and Gaf pretty much has their history covered for those who forget. I want MS to care about me but I don't exist to them these days, I'll only exist when I tick the agreement button and really that's just sad.
